'08 Titan with Big Tow

631 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  PRJ
I was configuring an '08 Titan on the Nissan website and when I pick the tow package it automatically adds the utility bed package. I don't want the utility bed package and didn't have to get it on my '04 titan when I got the big tow.

Is this a mistake on the Nissan website?

Don't know about the 08's. My 05 has BT without the bed package.
I thought BT was just an option by its self. I think it should cost $500.00 utili bed is nice though???
Check out the Nissan website and start configuring a truck. When I pick the Big Tow package it automatically adds the utility bed package.

I tried it and just as you said, it won't let you do one without the other. I also have a 04 with big tow and no utility package. Some brainiac decided that people are to stupid to decide what they want on their trucks. I have written a couple of letters to Nissan about this and they explained to me in their reply that in their research, people wanted people to spend extra money on crap they did not want or need. Personally I don't have a lot of money to waste on stuff I will hardly ever or never use.
You might never utilize every item on the High Utility Bed package, but it is a very worthwhile investment. I thought the last thing I would ever use was the 12volt recept. in the bed. i used it to fill up an inflatible swimming pool for a customer. The Utili-Trak is worth its weight in Platinum, gold isn't a high enough value. Should you choose to get the sliding tool boz later if is a God send. I was 50/50 on it when we bought the 04, I couldn't have looked at a truck without it when I got my 08.

Worst case scenario, you buy it now and it adds on resale when you trade up or out in a few years.
The problem with where I live is that they salt the roads in the winter. Salt kicks up from the back tire onto the storage door. Eventually, because of the salt, the lock/key mechanism won't work followed shortly by the door rusting. This compartment behind the wheel was a bad idea on Nissans part. Ford used to put that silly thing on there trucks back in the 70's. Notice they don't anymore.

As far the 12 volt plug in. I can go buy one of them Walmart for $5 and mount it somewhere in the bed.

I haven't found a need for the sliding tie downs either and will never have a tool box in the back. My vehicle is a hunting/fishing machine. A toolbox takes away from my storage space.
