Depends on your current MPG (I get 15 highway doing 75 but some people get 18+). Also depends on the shape of what you're pulling. A big trailer that has a lot of drag will be worse than a lower profile that can fit behind the truck.

I agree with 4mula1fan, though. Don't be surprised to see single digits.

I get about 11mpg towing 4k through the mountains at 65mph. That's a cube shaped trailer, so aerodynamics is crap on it. I'm in a 2011 CC Pro4x, so I'm about the worst mileage you can get, in terms of stock config.

If you stick to 60mph, you'll likely see between 10-11mpg.

Does anyone think that 10 mpg is good????
I bought my QX 56 earlier this year and I tow 6K regularly.
It gets about 9 mpg......

But then I also run a Dodge 1 ton Dually loaded (10K) with a 10K trailer and it never gets worse than 14 mpg.

Good? It's a relative term, and certainly not one I've ever heard used for the Titan's gas mileage, but your apples and oranges comparison aside, it is what it is. My average mileage towing about 6,500 was around 8. Never better than 10, but the worst was 5.

My towing experience is close to Carbeaux. My '08 KC LWB 4X2 usually has a 24' enclosed trailer with close to 9K in weight. Usual mileage with calm winds (which really affect tall, boxy trailers) was 8.5 MPG. I'd love to see 10 MPG, but that hasn't happened in over five years of towing.

Yeah, that dually is a diesel, isn't it? And that's a different animal altogether.

No, 10 isn't "good." But for my use, it's still not terrible. I did the math once, back when gas was at $4 a gallon. To buy a comparably equipped truck to my Titan, which got better mileage by 3-4mpg, I'd have had to drive over 200,000 miles to make up the cost difference. Mileage is what it is. Total cost of ownership is what I am concerned with, and it's not bad for my T so far, compared to a lot of other trucks, and especially compared to the dodge ram my T replaced. That heap of crap had about the same mileage on it when I traded as I now have on my T, was far less truck, 2wd instead of 4wd, no bluetooth, no leather, and it cost me more per mile driven by a wide margin.

Every scenario has advantages and disadvantages. My T meets my needs pretty well and I'll suffer the towing MPG because it does all I need to do so well, and my overall cost of ownership is still below dodge, Ford, GM, and Toyota based on what my friends have paid out, comparably.

As way of a contrast, my previous tow vehicle--1996 Chevy C3500 CC dually--towed well with a 454 cubic inch Vortec V8 and 4.11 rear. But throughout the years of towing across the country, mileage was consistent at 5.5 MPG! My Titan at 8.5 MPG is a significant improvement and out 5.6 liter VK pulls nearly as well. As you say, when you weigh the advantages vs. disadvantages, my Titan Mk I continues to meet my needs and remains the most cost effective tow vehicle option out there.

I never got over 10 mpg''s while pulling a 33' toy hauler with my 06 3500 CTD.
It's just fuel & money, who cares about the mpg's.

My '07 Titan would get around 9 MPG pulling a 6K enclosed utility trailer. But I was almost always pulling over a pss or two in the Rocky Mountains.

My '17 F-350 with the 6.7L diesel gets about 10 MPG pulling my 11K RV trailer (also in the mountains). I didn't buy it for the fuel mileage. I'm very happy with it.

Yeah, the Dodge is a diesel. And I have owned 12 other Nissan products over 30 years.

I like the Nissan, because of reliability.
The Dodge has been a pain in the A$$ for repairs.
Problems with front bearings, ball joints, steering boxes, transmissions etc..
Mileage is "good" but cost of ownership is not.

My 07 4wd pulling a 7k lbs enclosed trailer gets 10 mpg on straight and level ground doing 55-60 mph. If the incline increases by an inch, it drops to 8 mpg.
