At a recent industry conference in Traverse City, Michigan, Frank Klegon, Chrysler's executive vice president of product development, reiterated earlier statements that Chrysler is focused on producing advanced engines for all its vehicles, including the Ram.

Mr. Klegon highlighted, "A significantly upgraded version of the renowned 5.7-liter HEMI V8 with gains in fuel efficiency, refinement, horsepower and torque, will debut in the 2009 model year."
It's rumored part of the HEMI power boost will come from the addition of variable valve timing and a bump in displacement.

Bring it On Dodge, maybe in 09 you'll be faster. But come 2010 Nissan's back :gunz:

Interesting......:smoke:

Looks like they might get away from the Mack truck looking front end since the grille isn't attached in these picture. Also these looked to be mega cab too.

What with the rear shock hangin so low for?

I wonder if the 5 bolt wheels interchange with the Tundra.

It looks like a sway bar end link to me.

What I find interesting is the 5 lug bolt pattern. Why? Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't 6 wheel studs better than 5?

tell that to toyota too. their new tundra wielding a towing capacity of 10k has 5 lugs too. go figure.
I trust Toyota and all. But there's just something fishy about the new Tundra that doesn't sit right with me.

the tundra may only have 5 lugs but the diameter of the bolts are bigger. not sure if that makes a big difference but its probably minimal on a 1/2 ton truck.

Never underestimate the benefit of girth.

When you go from a 3/4" bolt to a 7/8" bolt, you gain about 26% shear strength increase. So what used to take 10000 lbs to shear off can now withstand 12600 lbs. Now multiply that by 5 and the lugs would be a bit stronger, although all five will rarely act at the same time.....

Maybe it isn't the Mega Cab, and dodge just extended the back seat room.
I dont think it is either. The "mega" portion doesnt fit the roof line. I think they just put it there to throw ya off. Or they just made one size fitts all covers and they have a mega cab cover on a reg. cab.

I bet they are shooting for a boxier looking front end with a more narrow crome face. Yeah ok doesn't make much sence, but look at how they shaved up the front end of the Tundra, and also how the front end of the new Caravans look. Seems like a small trend if you ask me. And that cover is to throw off the photo spys... You can kinda tell by the curves to the cab. As for that rear link, that is weird.

That could also be part of some kind of testing device. They put all kinds of equipment on those trucks and drive them around and record all kinds of different data.

Another thing about the shape and front end on those, is that sometimes its very difficult to tell what they truely look like underneath because they put extra pieces of foam or softer plastics, or they even leave body panels off of the vehicles in order to throw people off of what they actually look like.

Vehicles like that are a pretty common sighting out here in the Phoenix metro area. We have quite a few different manufacturer proving grounds in this area.
