I bought my Titan in May 2004, I use Mobil1 10-40 and Fram filters, I change the oil every 10,000 miles and the filter every 5,000 miles. I now have 199,291 miles on it now. I changed spark plugs and replaced the starter. That is all that has every been done to the engine. Today I checked my mileage and discovered that I had gone 12,707 miles since the last oil change, so I had my wife pick up the oil and filter and changed the oil, I always use 6 1/2 quarts. I decided to measure the old oil, I measured 6 1/4 cups of old oil. How many chevy, ford or dodge engines, with 199,291 miles on them, do not burn any oil in 12,000 miles? The truck still starts and runs good.
I will be 70 in July 2017, I plan on retiring then and I think I will treat myself to a new Titan.

I don't know about buying any of the Gen 2 Titans, but my 8 year old Gen 1 has been a solid rig for the most part. With regards to oil consumption, it has never burned a drop (just broke 60k last week). I'm gonna drive this rig till it is no longer cost beneficial to do so, then purchase me a nice used 2-3 year old Tundra.

I'm curious Rholland, I have an 04 also but with just 82K on her. Have you had the exhaust manifold issue or any other common issues like the AC actuator problem?

Rholland, did you mean you measured 6 1/4 cups or 6 1/4 quarts? 6.25 cups is only about 1.6 quarts, so if that's all you had left then there's definitely a problem. But, if you meant quarts and you only lost 1/4 quart after 12k miles from the 6.5 quarts you put in, you have nothing to worry about.

My 07 with 100k miles still runs like a champ. Doesn't burn any oil.
