I'm a new member -- just got a 2006 Titan crew cab SE 4WD

The 12v Power Port on the drivers side on console is not working---checked fuse in passenger side fuse panel and it's good -- are ther other fuses that I need to check?

I saw something about fuses in box undee hood by battery but I could n't even figure out how to open that box

Also the power port unit is loose in the mounting hole -- it just slides in and out -- what do I need to fix that annoyance?

I sure would appreciate some help -- I've searched and haven't found the pointers I need --

Not sure without looking at it, as far as hookup, but the driver's side port is wired to constant power, so it should work whether you have the key in or not. That would suggest that either a fuse is out or something has come loose with that ground, or power hookup. Since you say it's sliding around, I wouldn't be surprised if the power prong on the back has just come off. Either way, you can get a multimeter and stick it on the center prong inside, and put the other lead to a ground on the truck (like the metal dash bracket) and see if there's 12v there. If there is, check the grounding. If not, check if the power connector has come off or a fuse is blown.

-Thanks for reply -- i did the multi mete check on outlet and no 12V there -- checked fuse in passenger side fuse block and it's good

Th connector on the back of the receptacle is firmly attached so I guess I need to figure olut how to unplug it and see if there is power on connector pigtail

Is there a fuse in the fuse block under hood for this power plug ??

If the power port is just sliding around, it may be that a retainer sleeve that goes over the port and screws on to the dash to hold the port in place has gone missing. The sleeve screwed to the dash provided the ground. This is how after market lighters were wired in some cases. If you can see behind the dash there may be a threaded receiver for this purpose. If so try a current test by touching the multi meter probes to the power supply at the back of the port and the threaded receiver on the dash.
Not certain when there may have been a change, but my '15 does not have constant power to any of the power ports, they are all switched.

His Titan has constant power on the driver's side, just like my 04. If they changed to switched, that was a step in the wrong direction! I love having a switched and unswitched outlet, it provides a ton of versatility. I can plug my detector in the switched and leave my phone in the switched, where it stays charging while I'm slogging away in Lowe's or on a job site.
