14.35 @ 95.14 How to get there...

Just wanted to share that I was consistently a 14.55-14.68 truck 2weeks ago. You can see my race in full street trim against toomnymods seen here:http://s93.photobucket.com/albums/l80/houseofbaker/?action=view&current=1459vs140withtomnymods.flv

Since then I have added the cold air tube from the grill into the Volant and a tranny cooler. I ran twice last night and picked up quite a bit of time. The CA tube and the tranny cooler were added since I ran Chris (tomnymods) two weeks ago. I went from a 14.60 to 14.35. So the mods work well. My GTech read 14.56 @ 95.40 and 0-60 5.74 and max G 0.85 @ 0.123sec Full Street trim NA with 63000 miles on her.

Timeslips: These are NA times. Race weight 5310, 93 octane, Full Street trim as seen in video above. DA was around 900-1000ft. Time between runs one appx. hour due to waiting in staging lanes.

Mods are: 2004 CC 4x2 LE with 63,000 miles
Banks exhaust muffler with 2.5" y-pipe, magnaflow cats and Stillen headers. 2007 intake manifold, UpRev tune, Trutrac, cold plugs, 3.36 gear, 20 Eagle Alloys, 275/55/20 Kumnho ESTCA, Truxedo bed cover, 2/3 drop with added stock overload, hellwig sway bar, bilstien shocks, mobil 1 syn 10-30.

Next thing I'm going to try is a set of denso plugs stock heat range and see if I can get anymore out of her since the cold plugs rob about 10HP/TQ. Then I'll hopefully be adding the JWT cams that are already sitting in my garage and a set of pulleys to see if I can get those rpms higher quicker.

So what I'm getting to is just like sc186 posted a few weeks ago that you can make the best of your parts if you work with it. It's just taking the time to do so. So hang in there you pre 07 owners.

Hey just got the shipment notice that the stock injector is coming back to me after cleaning. I wonder how bad it was after 63K????
So, you think my 07 with these mods will hit the 14's?
Uprev
Magnaflow
K&N Drop in
Syn Oil
Well, we just might have to see. I am going to get UpRev-ed this month.
Then to the track. :)

sure better to do a track run first and then you have something to compare to...after mods.

Can you provide more info on how these plugs will help your time?

Thanks
Good Times, Randy. Looks like the cold air intake mod is now on my to do list before i go back to SCR. If the mod knocked off 2+ tenths off of your (headers & uprev) truck my truck (without) should be .5-1 tenth quicker also. I hope this good weather here holds out until after i go back to the track.

well I 've beeb running cold plugs because I run nitrous at the track. They are NGK iridiums. It's also really just something else to try as they are supposed to burn better and I have a set of 8 that were given to me by a member that had a low 14 sec truck. So I figured it will take me 30 minutes to swap plugs and try them out with the Gtech on the street.

I have basically the same truck as you, minus the extra power of the 07' and am running mid 14's.

Like RB said, it doesnt take much, just choose your mods wisely and follow the path of what others have proven to work.

I have:

Volant intake
Stock 07' pipes with Magnaflow muffler
UpRev Osiris
Nismo Headers
Don't forget the difference a day makes either. What I mean by that is I had a 14.56 truck one week and a week later I had a 14.25 truck, the reason was the weather plain and simple. When comparing these trucks and your mods, keep a keen eye on the conditions that were present at the time of the test runs or track times, I really can't say enough about how big a difference 12 degrees made in my trucks track time. It's really hard to compare vehicles in different locations and different tracks and Dynos. One of the reasons I dynoed at Old Town was to see if my truck was performing. Out of about 35 trucks that Dynoed, mine came out on top as it should have with the cams and yet my Dyno number was 302.8 HP, well below some others that I have seen with fewer mods. They Dynoed on a different day and a different machine so I have nothing to really compare to. If you want to know what your truck is doing, take it to the black top Dyno, it's the true test but be aware of the weather at all times.

After looking back at my time slips just now, it forces me to start a new thread because the temperature was only 4 degrees difference between them and the density altitude calc was a 1648 vs a 1367. this isn't much different on the surface but made over 3 tenths difference at the track and thats huge. I will post a new thread after I do some more calcs.
