I bought a 2017 Titan Pro4X December 1st with everything but the luxury package. With about 2000 miles on it I absolutely love the truck but there are 2 issues that catch my attention.

1. Every now and then the radio restarts, I can't figure out what causes it (bluetooth connection, nissan connect services etc.) I can't reproduce it just happens on its own, has anyone else had this issue.

2. Acceleration stutters. I'm aware of the gear hunting that newer 6 and 7 speed autos do, I've gotten used to that and it really never bothered me. The issue I have is when I'm going up a hill and the truck needs to down shift but it doesn't, the tach bounces about 600 - 700 rpms or the truck just cuts power for a second and then down shifts hard and accelerates hard. This is very weird behavior, I have't taken it to the dealer yet but wanted to see what you guys thought.

I have only had my truck for three weeks now but I have not experienced either of those issues.

Do you have an Iphone or Android? I had numerous issues with my 2015 Frontier with my Iphone.. The apps would close and my radio would reboot. I switched to android and did not have these issues. My 2013 titan works fine with my iphone. My frontier did bluetooth streaming, while my 2013 has my New iphone directly connected via USB Cable.

iPhone 7 (just got this phone) it also did it with my iphone SE I had previously. I haven't seen the issue happen more than once per start of the vehicle, I'll try disconnecting bluetooth for a couple days and see if that helps, thanks for the input

I think that your downshift issue is because of the rpm matching software.

My 2004 will surge while crawling in low range 4WD, and manual downshifting will cause sudden acceleration sometimes. I was hoping that they had this solved by now. (Of course, they haven't changed the design for 12 years, so maybe they haven't changed the software)?
I would certainly have your truck checked for updates.

For non XDs I don't think there are any updates. I have asked. I was told only XD updates so far.


But yes I have experienced both things. But to clarify is the shutting down of the radio where when music is playing there is a second or two of silence before playing again? Or where the Nav and buttons around the Nav stay black and do not come on or work? I have experienced both but none have stuck around. The second or two cutout of the audio happens only once and some random point when listing to BT audio only every time the car is on but is so brief it doesn't bother me enough.

I've had mine almost a month now and I've yet to notice any issues with the transmission. As for the audio system my 'basic' system has a little quirk in that lately only the bluetooth streaming connects, not the phone. I have a lifetime Sirius/XM app plan and so I use it when I drive places whether I'm in own vehicle or a rental. Typically, the phone will connect and I have to activate the streaming feature. But in the Titan, the opposite happens. The music will start playing but there is no indication on the screen that the phone service is connected. And if a call comes in, it goes only to the phone and not to the truck. If I turn bluetooth on and then off it then reconnects the phone and the streaming.

I was told the same about the non-XD's, no updates yet

The issue I have with the radio is a little longer than a few seconds of audio cut, but not quite a minute, it's happened listening to BT streaming, to satellite and has even happened with the radio off (just nav screen) all instances my phone was connected to the system. The head unit reboots to where the screen goes black, the nissan badge is shown and then audio resumes before the nav screen is fully loaded. I'm in agreement that it doesn't bother me enough to take it in for this issue alone. The thing I noticed yesterday is that when I got in my truck, my phone was in my hand I set it on the armrest, started the truck, bluetooth connected as it should, the phone screen came on due to the connection being made, since I saw the phone illuminate, out of habit I hit the button to turn the screen off, within 10 seconds the radio restarted.

I noticed this issue one time, the phone was connected but I was listening to the satellite radio, through the truck not the phone, a call came in to my phone but I couldn't answer it with the truck. I knew the phone was connected because of the icon on the radio screen. I think the radio could definitely use a firmware upgrade. My buddy has a new tacoma and he can update the head unit in the truck through a toyota app on his phone.

That's good news, as of now it's really the only issue I have with the truck that bothers me

Both of my '17 1/2 tons stutter at 1200 rpm. I was told it's normal, but I'll bet there will be a fix pretty soon.

I have a 2017 Titan PRO 4X and I took it to the dealership where I bought it to have them look at the transmission issue described above and after 3 hours they found nothing wrong. I too have the issue where the truck hesitates before acceleration. I'm taking it in today to a different dealership that's closer to my house to have them program the remote starter and I'm going to have them look into my transmission issue.

Let us know what you find. I haven't taken my truck in but I did call the local dealership to find out if there is a software update for the vehicle and was told there is not. Out of the 2 issues I've had I can definitely reproduce the hesitation, so much so that on my drive home from work I know where it will happen so before coming to that section of the road I accelerate hard, as long as know one is in front of me, to avoid the hesitation and pause.

Good luck. Let us know. I had my remote start installed by the dealer and while I was there asked them if there were any updates (2weeks ago) and they said only for XD. Nothing for us regular Titan folks for now.

With 2,000 miles on my 2017 Pro-4x, I have a flashing air bag light that the dealer can not reset. Rear passenger curtain. They ordered a new part today.
The second issue is that when it is cold (30 degrees and colder); there seems to be a knock from the engine but once warmed up, it goes away.

I have 2800 miles on mine. And have a weird sounding engine too, when cold. It's not really a knock but just not a smooth sounding engine

If your engine has a knock, I would get the truck back to a dealer service dept (doesn't have to be the one you purchased the truck from). Explain it happens when cold. Ask them to keep your truck overnight (and give you a loaner vehicle), so their tech can experience the cold knock first hand. That's not a good sign...

That's not an engine knock, which is what was described by the OP...
