Well it sounds better than stock but from what I've heard from people on here say how it is loud that is crazy. I should've gone with something like the smaller size. I have it dumped right before the rear axle. Anyone know if this can be made to be louder or am I just SOL? FlowMaster may have been a better choice I guess for the muffler swap.

Since it's new, if you want louder, sell it and get a Spin Tech. They're pretty obnoxious.

I had a 14" maggy, and Ive said from the start, magnaflow blows. It simply wasnt loud and had no tone at all. Like Moze said, spintech is a louddd muffler. Ive run flowmasters my whole life, and they consisently sound better than magnadrone

No no no no, this weekend I installed the Dynomax 3 in/out bullet muffler, this thing is a BEAST. Cost about 45 for the muffler, and 30 for install at shop..My friend heard it last night who has an 18" magnaflow on his Chevy, and before I started my truck he said, "If this sounds better than mine I'm going to be pissed" Well, needless to say, he was pissed XD It's a great muffler though, loud and a deep throaty sound, absolutely no popping..there is a big thread on here with sound clips you should check it out..

yea but unless you plan on racing alot, id rather have it sound better than perform better, after all, it is a pickup truck and a heavy one at that haha

not a fan of the magnaflows on a titan since day one... i had a jba on my old titan... my new one has a banks... the jba was ok.. the banks is nice.. but borla is the best ive EVER heard on a titan...

#8 ·
$$$$ borla. I just refuse to put one on because my ricer roomate has one on his civic si and sweats it, so I refuse to have any of the same brands on my rig. But yea borla sounds tits on the titans

yeah borla is money.. but dammnnnn it sounds soooo good.. eventallyy that will be one my truck and ill be selling my banks.. but right now.. im more worried about looks... so eh. it can wait!

typical woman haha

i love my MBRP, sounds good and looks good, IMO the banks looks funky how it kinda just drops out of the rear fender outta nowhere.

i had the 18" and 14" mag on mine, wasnt impressed, switched to dynomax ultraflow, not impressed, so after all the hype of the bullets on our T's, i ordered the fm y-collector and the bullet, just waiting for their arrival for installation :bouncy:

very good point

My bro has a cherry bomb extreme? I think... Its like 5 inches long ha. If you want loud and some what of a drone than get that.

#17 ·
my buddy had that exact muffler on his 5.2 ram, it was louddd for lack of better words. My other buddy just put a cherrybomb 8" glasspack with the fins reversed on his 5.2 with a y pipe and dual pipes out the side (has a hi-flow cat), minimal drone and oh my god is it loud but in a good way. sounds like incredible

I was sold on Magnaflow for a while, but slowly I started to not like the sound of it. I ended up getting a JBA cat-back. Even then it was a tough choice between the JBA and Banks. Guess it just depends how much $ you want to spend and what results you are looking for. If you want to just change the muffler out and not do a cat-back, I would go with Flows.

#18 ·
Well I don't need the full cat-back because I have an 08. So from what people said all I had to do is swap out my stock with an aftermarket muffler. Well the Magnaflow sounds good it's just not the V8 sound I'm looking for. I have a 2002 Corvette with Borla stingers and it sounds great just at idle. So looking for something that's not overly loud but has that nice V8 sound and also sounds like a nice V8 at idle too. Are the flowmaster 40s or 44s good?

#20 ·
Both my brother and father have 40's but they are on Chevys and sound good. A friend of mine has duel 44's on his GMC and it aounds great. Only experience I have with Flows was on my Stang and an old Chevy p/u.

Borla ProXS isn't expensive. They're the same muffler as the higher priced line...still stainless. But for the O.P., they aren't 'loud'. But they are about the best muffler I've heard. Had duals on my Silvy and it sounded great.

had a 40 on my 4.7 dakota, good until WOT then it sounded like a shop vac on steroids. Have a hooker aerochamber on my 5.2 dakota, sounds perfect

my personal opinion is the super 40. The super 44 is hit or miss, and the delta flow 40 is a bit too quiet for my tastes

#25 ·
I had the Flowmaster 40 series on my 06 T. Sounded great. This time i went with magnaflow. Also been considering flowmaster again or banks cat back. only reason i keep the maggy on is because i have my little girl with me all the time. quieter is better for her.

Flows sound good, but oyu might as well put concrete to block your exhaust flow in the pipes..Ever seen inside one? My 22" sounded stock when I first installed it, but it got louder over time. I actually am in love with my exhaust (JBA catback and 22" Mag)...I have heard Banks, Nismo, Flows and Dynomax in person on Titans (lots of local members), but to me, I would take my Mag exhaust over anyone of them. I did however want to try Borla, and I may one day. But all the rest can stay home IMO....Oh, and I get complimented on the exhaust a lot with the Mag, but then again, I have no cats at all, so mine is deep and aggressive sounding...Good sound is just in the ear of the beholder....Also wanted to add, in case people think I am just a big Mag fan. Before this truck, I never owned a Magnaflow muffler, this is the first I have ever owned, however, it was made me fall back in love with my exhaust...Now to give Borla a try

I bet you like the Borla better. :) I put a huge Magnaflow on the wife's TBSS and that thing sounded gooooooood....

#28 ·
I can tell you right now that it will indeed get LOUDER, and better sounding IMO... I cooked the sh!t out of mine about a week after getting it, pulling my 8300lb camper, even "bronzing" the stainless tip, lol... Drone and sound got a lot better, and now it'll turn heads anytime I step on the gas!!

Man whatever you do don't get the 14" I have that on my truck and I hate it, mine is the dual in single out. Its not very loud and it has that damn farting/card in the spokes sound at wide open throttle that embarassess the sh!t out of me. I thought the 14" would have an agressive sound but does not. In a week or two i am ordering the flowmaster dual in 2.25" single 3" out y-pipe and gonna weld on a 3" flowtech afterburner with a dougs headers 3" turndown all from summit racing. Flowtechs sound awesome and sound similar to a flowmaster but flow alot better than one.

I just cant justify spending so much money on an exhaust because I dont race it (it has an 8" lift with 35" tires) so I want it to sound good so thats why im gonna try the flowtechs.

To get rid of almost all the drone, don't exit the exhaust on the side, either dump it after the rear axle or run it straight back. I have no drone whatsoever on my current setup using the 18" MF.

On the other hand, I can't stand the CIS sound whenever I get on. I'm switching to a SI/SO offset Hooker Aerochamber....hopefully that will help eliminate the CIS effect.
