What are the advantages and disadvantages of a 2* timing advance?

Better midrange (driving at speed) throttle response with no cons.
Pros: Quicker off the line.

Cons: Bad on gas mileage cuz it's quicker off the line...
I heard it was only $20 at the stealer? This true?
That is what some have charged on the forum or less. Not sure about dealerships doing it but anyone with a programmer can do the advance. When you do the advance it is in a defferent section of the files on the programmer so it does not get recognized being done over and over again. Now the tune leaves the unit or is blocked from doing it on multiple vehicles.
No cons IMO. It makes the truck peppier off the line. The 2* advance is still within factory specs so it doesn't null the factory warranty.

If you're within driving distance to me I will gladly do the 2* advance free of charge.
How much worse does the gas mileage get? And is it worth losing that gas mileage for faster off the line and or midrange?
Didn't affect my mileage at all. It simply allows the engine to advance out further if need be when under load. My normal driving doesn't require that need. Spirited driving would. Same as without the advance....you play you pay.
I lost 1 mpg with the 2* advance. Not a big deal for the added response.
better throttle response and mpg lose if you floor it. other than that it runs Smoother. I know that thanks to carbeaux.
has anyone tried to update their bullydog gt tuner for their 2011 nissan titan????? i updated mine to 2011 nissan vehicles and it keeps telling me the same code number and wont download
Not to threadjack but if you get the 2* timing done an dont like it can you back to factory setting?
Yes. The same tuners that can put them on can put them back stock.
Koo putting that on the "add to truck" list

I did yesterday and everything went fine.
I live way up in Canada so most of you guys wont be able to help me with the timming. Can the dealership advance the timming if I bring my truck to them?
Most dealerships I have talked to down in SOCAL wont do it. I did it myself and noticed a big difference in response and quickness. Did affect my mileage though....

BTW, Im in the IE and will do it for $15 (helps justify buying the programmer)
Will all the programmers do the advance? I just got the Superchips Cortex. Haven't played with it alot, but I don't see anywhere to do a timing advance. Anyone with a Cortex that can tell me where to look?

I had thought one of the tune programs included advancing the timing. But sounds like that's not the case.

The 93 tune allows you to advance the timing 3 degrees.

I just advanced mine with my BDGT through the advanced settings. I let the truck run for a bit and get warm and then while it was on and parked I advanced it +2

It's a seemingly simple yet valuable change in the truck. I figured hell, I installed the 87 tune, dropped the WOT restriction and set acceleration to performance so I might as well go add the 2+ while I'm at it. Totally different truck now.
