Anyone exceeding 300,000 on their 2004/2005 Titan?

My 2004 just rolled 205,000. Anything and everything that can possibly go wrong with it (that can be found on this forum) has already been fixed with the exception of the radiator which is still the original.

It's paid for...starting to rust on the rear fenders...could use some new shocks... the steering rack is starting to wear out...one of the doors consistently freezes during cold temps, the HVAC no longer switches to the front vents and the window switches for the back windows don't always work.

With that said, the engine and transmission are solid. So I am at a crossroads on whether I dump it or give it some TLC and go for ~500,000 miles.

What sayeth you?

Since you've been taking good care of it, know the history, it's the best truck you are likely to find! Really, the only thing that sounds concerning is the rust. Take a good look at the structural bits... if they are good, I'd probably just keep rolling. Even a few $k in repairs is cheaper than paying for a new/used truck.

Good luck!

I have 125K miles on mine, bought it new in 2004. I keep it parked in the garage everyday and it is in showroom condition. Dude at the car wash last week asked me if the truck was new. I did put new headlights and a grille last month to freshen up the look. There is no rust, just a few minor nicks from normal wear and tear.

Radiator was done 3 times, axle seals twice (did myself). Had the Cajun long tubes and tune done after the headers cracked which brought my HP up to 420. Hands down the best truck I have ever owned. I drive it to work (70 miles) 2 or 3 times a week and take my VW GLI or Jeep Wrangler the other 2 times per week. This truck is faster than a super charged Trans Am I had back in the 80's. I love it.

Keep it, what will it cost you?

I plan on keeping mine till at least 2019, then I will consider a new Titan. Want to give the next generation a few years to work out the bugs. Fool me once,......... My 04 is at 195K right now. Still runs good and rides solid. Some of the typical problems I faced were axle seals 4 times, 2 under warranty, radiator, and front hub/bearings on both sides. Seals and radiator I did myself. Also needed an exhaust system, went with the 2007 style which eliminates the Y pipe. Again did this myself. This system still broke within a year from rust at the weld after the muffler, but I caught it this time before some wires got melted. Still tow a lot, at least 25% of the time and do half my winter miles on salty roads in upstate (near Canada) NY. Undercarriage is real rusty to the point where most bolt heads would probably strip if they needed to be removed.

edit, Oh yea, just replaced a rusty, but not leaking yet, right rear brake line and a front caliper.

I have an 04' bigtow 170k and I plan to keep it till the motor runs out. I bought it from in 2010 with 60K and only one owner. I have done some preventive maintenance on the common 04-07 issues and some major repairs as well. I had the tranny replaced at 150k. I had the front trans line leak and nearly empty it full of fluids when I first got it. Drove it around like a dummy. I got lucky and didn't have to pay for it(long story)

Heres a quick summary of things that failed or I just thought it needed to be changed out (I'm kinda a freak about putting new parts in that are probably fine, I just like the assurance)

Wheel bearings 2 times bothsides
Rusted Exhausted melted my wireharness that shorted out my ABS
e brake exploded
leaking trans line
Oil Cooler leak
Oil sending sensor
Power steering line leak
Rear Axel seal x2
Transfer case main seal leak
Ball joints, tie rod etcs etc
02 sensors
battery
belt
Upper, Lower control arms
Rotors, Pads x3

Here are some upgrades I've done:
5125 Blistiens all around
Finned Diff cover
Tru trac Differential
HD rear shackles
Differential Vent mod
JBA LT headers, JBA Exhaust, Vibrant
New Radiator
external transmission cooler

Damn I don't drive enough...

I'm at 140k on my 05.

I will run it till it dies. Rebuild it and start over. All I currently need is a paint job. Nissan paint seems to be kind of soft, lol well at least in 2005 it was. Maybe that has changed. My wife's 11 pathfinder seems to have a much better paint job than my truck.
