So I have a 2006 Nissan Titan with about 100K miles on it, the mechanic is telling me that the inside of both of the catalytic converters have broke apart and are blocking the exhaust? They are telling me that I need to replace them from the manifold back to the tune of $2400... does that sound right? Thanks

The price sounds right. The converters are part of the manifolds and are a pain to replace.

You can buy OEM manifolds with converters attached for a bit more than $600 from CourtesyParts.com. That's $600 for each side. Or you can buy JBA long tube headers for around $600 for a set. However, you'll need to buy tuning software and new b-pipes. That will still cost less than what your mechanic quoted but I'm only quoting prices for the parts, no labor.
