2006 Titan rear end clunk when braking in reverse??

Hello everyone, I'm a new member, been an avid reader of everyone on TT though for a couple months, (really appreciate all the help and relief from all the info) recently bought my 06 XE around November and since then I've had the sluggish "limp mode" type symptoms(which was fixed after new fuel pump) and quite a volley of other issues. Truck has 160k, I recently noticed during a cold start, while reversing and I apply the brake there's a loud thud/clunk coming from the rear/driveshaft/differential.(only a single thud and only when brake is applied)
Not sure where exactly, after some research on here I drained the rear dif oil and it was black with sludge and about an inch high of shavings.. cleaned and bolts resealed and put valvoline 75w 140 synthetic back in and it appears to have stopped. Going to do more of a test drive tomorrow. Anyone experience this?

Just curious how your truck is still doing? I have a 05 2wd and for a month or so I have been getting a clunk when I apply the brakes and I slow down to say 25-35mph. If I apply the brakes harder than normal I don't get the clunk noise. Thinking I should try what you did. Any help would be great! Thanks

Maybe driveshaft carrier bearing/bushing is bad?
