Ok... I am a new user looking at buying my first full size pickup (Crew Cab)... I am not one of those guys from a small town that has any affiliation with any particular brand of truck (I just want the best half ton I can get). However, my wife is. She has grown up with Fords all her life and really wants me to get an F150 Crew Cab.

I really like the Titan Crew Cab and I am having a tough time convincing her. The real problem for me is the box length. I do like that the F150 comes with and option for a 6.5ft box. No long box on the Titan until 2008 and it appear as though payload takes a hit with the long box anyhow.

Please help me convince myself (and my wife) that the Titan is the way to go (or else I will end up with an F-150).

How is dependablity?
Is the 5.5ft box a true problem?

Thanks,

Steve

Steve you will love a CC Titan. I know the 06 T's have some brake issues and some climate control problems but nothing serious. Unless you work construction and need to haul full size sheets of plywood or something like that the 5.5 ft box is not a problem. There's a lot more room in the back than you think. The T's have more leg room in the rear than the Ford's and the T's 5.6 will smoke a 5.4 anytime. For me it's a no brainer. Good Luck.

The long bed wasnt available until later year titans. He wants to buy a used one. I have 06' KC, it has its advantages over the ford, but the ford isnt a bad truck at all. Youll be fine whatever way you decide. For longer bed, All you have to do is buy a KC. Problem solved. They have the big bed, and the back seat is plenty big for kids.

ive never seen a woman so passionate about vehicle branding. strange..... tell her to drive the titan, shell like it. the ford is a lot slower, only has a 4 speed compared to the titans 5 speed, as well as only a 2 or 3 valve / cylinder head. The titans powertrain is way btter than the fords, with the exception of the rear end.

Sorry, I missed the title saying "2006". :bangit: You're right I think 2008 was the first year.
My guess is that she'll grow to love the Titan if she spends a little time test driving one. Along with other prospects, we were comparing an Expedition to the Armada when we were looking. My wife won't let me keep a Ford in the garage now. :)

I have the 2008 Titan which I purchased after selling the 2001 Ford F150. The Titan with a half ton capacity carrys a load better and pulls a trailer easier. There is no drag on the truck when driving and the control of the vehicle and its trailer is better. I run a remodeling company and carrying drywall and plywood is no problem with the tailgate down. I would not go back to the F150 after owning the Titan. Good luck with your persuasion.

Thanks guys,

You've made some good points.

I really like the agressive stance of the Titan, but I have made mistakes by making decisions based soley on looks before and been bitten.

One thing I did notice was when I sat in the F150, it was nice and all, but I didn't feel "wowed". When I sat in the Titan... I felt gitty and excited. For that feeling alone, I think it would be worth going with the Titan.

My wife is not beyond persuasion, and I am sure once she goes for a ride in it, she will fell the same excitement!... Maybe so much so that the big back seat will get some use ;)

Titan is one of the only trucks *stock* that I will turn and look at on the road, and I did this before I got my Titan. It simply looks amazing!

My problem is now becoming two fold... Not only am I fighting the wife on the brand, but as I shop around, I am realizing another big problem...

There just are not enough Titan's to choose from! For every one Titan I find for sale, there are literally 50 - F150's. This also hurts pricing (as a buyer). I am a firm believer that "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR", but with so many F150's available, sellers are forced to be more competitive and as a buyer, I have a greater chance to find a good deal.

I know what you are all going to say... "it is worth it to buy a Titan"... but budget is always a concern for me...

What to do... What to do...

you got to do what you got to do. Shopping for cars sucks, period. It will eventually wear you out to the point you just will give in and just go with something thats fairly decent.

having a large selection is a very good benefit for you.

Besides, a happy wife means you will be happy. make her mad, you will be miserable.

just buy a ford, but realize you are getting an inferior powertrain. Competent, but inferior.

^^ The 150 isn't a bad truck but it isn't a Titan and Titan isn't a f150. You should have her drive (you as well) a few different trucks to see what blows her skirt up. My wife drove my Titan and had to have one. It was easy to talk her out of her POS 2005 Chrysler Town and County that she just had to have and into a 2005 Titan 4x4 CC.

i reallllly think he need to get her inside that titan... let her drive it.. then take her to ford.. and get her in that and drive it.. and if she is not happier with the titan then i agree with titan14.. if she is not happy... you may not be to "satisfied" for a while.. lol women and picky.. but i really think if she drove it and what not she would like it better..

and btw.. i see what you are saying but i got my truck jan 09 right... i drove a ford.. used with 33,000 the LOWEST they would go was $22,800 otd... i drove a 05 chevy silverado.. intake headers exhaust (sloooower then my stock titan) with 50,000 mikes on it!! they wouldnt go lower then $18,000... i found my 06 CC SE 4X4 big tow/pop pack/ off-road package.. already leveled with rims and tires OTD @ $18,061.35 which means i only paid about 16,000 for it... and if you are going NEW.. the ex and i bought a 2008 SE 2wd titan from nissan in sept of 2008 with 22 miles on it sticker was somewhere about 30-33 i believe... with a trade in.. upside down 8 grand they got us OTD at 32,000! thats how bad nissan wants to sell titans!! we TRIED the f150 and the ram.. they didnt care enough to sell us a truck..

GOOD LUCK though =)

My dad has an 03 F-150 I have an 05 Titan of course...

Today my oldest daughter called me from school and was sick. My wife and I carpool in to work (she has the car) so I called my dad to see if he could give me a lift home so I could pick my daughter up. He picked me up in his truck and I felt like I was gonna fall on the floor... I got home, got in my truck and felt at home. I love my titan and you will love it too. Not to be bias or anything... you do realize you are asking this question in a Titan forum don't you?

Another note: My truck is HEAVY weighed it in the other day at the dump with me in it at 5760lbs (im 190)... Few months ago a 06ish F-150 with headers/exhaust pulled up next to me at a light and wanted to play... all he saw was my tail lights whats with that!

Buy what you want (which unfortunately is the F-150 for you since your wife wants it) sorry dude its your loss...

but good luck

I am in British Columbia, Canada... and I can get a 2008 F150 CC with only 30,000 kms (19,000 miles) lots of bells and whistles for under $20,000 CAD. If I find a comparable Titan (2008 CC SE 30K Kms) I am looking at $26,000 (at best). Resale doesn't seem to be an issue up here... and I think its mostly because there is just so few of them...

And I am fully aware that this is a Titan forum... I love the Titan, and I am just trying to convince myself and my wife that it they will be worth the extra headache (to find one) and cost.

Cheers!

oh, that makes more sense then. Well, i wouldnt pay that much of a premium for a titan, one of the best things about it was its fair pricing and frequent factory cash back rebates, in the US anyway.

But, on the other hand, if the market there demands a higher price for titans, youll be able to sell it at a higher price as well.:)

I would love to buy South of the border, but it would have to be the perfect truck for a great price to go through the headache of duties and red tape.

Our '06 Toyota Sienna is a California Van and we love it, but we didn't have to deal with the import... We bought it off of a lot up here that had dealt with the import.

oh.. yeah idk cause i have never tried to buy anything out of the country.. but if you are interested you might as well look.. i mean in a two min look i found a 2009 cc se with 10000 miles for 23,000 and thats with the 100,000 mile warranty.. but then again.. i dont know how much of a pain it really is.. and if its even worth it to look =) lol

I am absolutely surrounded by Ford people...

My dad has driven Ford's his whole life... Like I said before, my Father-in-law has had Ford's his whole life and my work place has a fleet of Ford's. Breaking the tradition is difficult... but at least I can see the light that there is much more choice out there, and the Titan is on top of the heap as far as I am concerned.

Speaking of Ford's, my Dad just came up and helped me haul away 1000 sq ft of hardwood flooring in his F350... now the wife is saying that I need an F350!... I can't win!:bangit:

Cant you like drive to vancouver or something? surely a large city would have an available supply of titans. I always drive to atlanta to buy my vehicles , about 100-150 miles away because the price and selection is much superior to local.
