Hey gang,

So, the paint on my 2007 titan with red alert paint has $hit the bed. The truck has 102,000 miles. I can fix about anything but really know nothing about paint.. Looking for some direction on what do do about this. What options do I have.. I'm not sure I want to dump a bunch of money into it on paint at this age. The damage is mostly on the top of the cab as shown in the linked pic below however other spots are showing elsewhere.. mostly on the flatter spots like over the wheel's and hood. Should I just go see a paint shop.. Anything I should be aware of before I go consult a painter? TIA.

Unfortunately, once the clear goes, the only real remedy is a paint shop or bedlining the exterior of the truck.

If you catch it early enough, you may be able to get a paint shop to do it without having to paint the whole truck. Worth asking, at least. The areas you're talking about would be easy to blend, except the fender tops, so you'd likely get the whole fender repainted on the fronts. But the hood and cab roof are actually pretty easy to get done. Nothing is cheap in paint and body, these days, though. Expect this to run into multiple 4 digits territory easily.

My roof is doing the same. Just going to have it sprayed with line-x in the near future. Figured it might strengthen the super flimsy metal up there too.

Had a chat with a painter over the phone today.. As a rough estimate he said I should account for about $400-500 per panel.
