So, long story short, I bought a car 8 months ago, realized you cant work construction and drive a car and now I am taking a huge loss on the car and trying to buy the best truck for my buck. Tomorrow I am going to test drive (and potentially buy) a 2010 titan SE with about 101k miles on it. The problem is that the truck is 3 1/2 hours away. (5 hours in the opposite direction of where I am doing most of my car shopping?

My question is, does the 2010 titan have any glaring Achilles heel I should be aware of and just not bother driving out that far to see it? I know the interior is a bit dated and all that jazz, that doesn't bother me, I am more concerned with the Mechanical side of it.

thanks for your help ahead of time. (PS if i buy this truck, expect to see me a lot more around here, I am not known for keeping things stock for long)

2008+ models were greatly improved over prior years. The only issue I ever had with my 2010, was the dreaded exhaust manifolds cracking. Otherwise, it was flawless.

They can still have axle issues, though doesn't seem to be as prevalent, but still should do the axle vent mod.

If the price is good enough, certainly would be worth a look.

Zero issues with my 2010 SE, but don;'t know how the other owner treated it, I've had mine since it had 48 miles on it.

I've owned an '08 for only 2 months now and love it. It only had 76k when I bought it, and it appears the previous owner took very good care of it. All I can say is it has LOADS of power. It will pass anything but a gas station!

What's the axle vent mod, and how do I know if I need it? (I realize I can probably search the forum, but I'm still trying to get to 10 posts. This should be the 9th.)

The breather on the rear axles or known for getting plugged causing pressure to build up and blowing out the seals. There is a hose barb that screws in and you run hose up into the taillight assembly so it's clear of any water getting in. Most put an inline filter on the end to keep dirt out. The part numbers are pretty easy to find on here or you can just buy a complete kit from Cajun. I sourced my own, can save a little that way, not thay Cajun's is expensive, I just enjoyed the hunt.
