So my T has the common exhaust manifold leak. Looking to get the best bang for my buck here. Reading about either staying stock, and expecting another blow out in 100k or upgrading to new headers, but requiring a tune to clear CEL codes. What's my best option here? Don't have a ton of cash to throw at it and the truck sits weeks at a time when I'm away working. Just with winter coming I don't want to wreck anything worse. Curious what people have done to fix the issue and what the most reliable/ cost effective setup is. Thanks! The truck has an AEM CAI but otherwise stock engine @140k.

What Fishn said.
Cajunize that truck and add an UpRev tune.
Solid upgrade. Well worth the price of admission.

I just installed JBA Long Tube headers on mine, uprev is on the way. I have 155 miles on the new setup, hasn't triggered a CEL yet. That may happen here shortly. Of course cost depends on where you get them and how you install them. Here is my cost.

I ordered my headers from Summit Racing - Total Charges $451.97 (included gaskets and studs)
2 new OEM Gaskets from local Nissan Dealer (you can probably order them online cheaper) $45.46
New OEM Studs from Dealer: $2.97 each = total $47.42
New OEM Nuts from Dealer: 1.08 each = total $17.28

Now the part that stings. I don't have a lot of time due to my work schedule so I paid a local shop to install them near my house. total labor for both sides was $370 - wait.. not done yet. They totally botched the job and I had to redo it. They used the gaskets that came with the headers, which you never ever want to do, believe me I just went through a nightmare as to why.

I was able to redo the passenger side myself this past weekend. No labor costs there. But no time to do labor on driver side. Sent it to one of the best shops near my office. They did a fantastic job and also had to re-thread all 8 bolt holes on the driver side head.

Total labor for driver side: $419.65

Total labor for that shop to do both sides: $839.30

Dealer quoted $880 in labor per side, no parts included and extra for rethreading or helix-coil

MY TOTAL COST OVERALL FOR HEADERS ONLY (uprev not included) $1351.23

Prices will obviously vary by location but I hope this helps, and I hope you never have to go through what I just went through. Heading to the original shop today to hammer on the owner who botched it to begin with.

Surprised your dealership gave you a quote for labor on Headers. Mine said they wouldn't touch it if it had anything to do with removing the cats due to federal emissions. Even though your total cost will end up being close to 2k, thats what you would have spent just on the OEM manifolds.

Cajun package with Uprev is $1380-1500 depending on bpipes needed. This is a turn key header/ tune/ bpipe package that fixes the manifold issue and can pass OBD emissions. We have actually sent this package to 3 different Nissan dealerships across the country.

I live south of Phoenix, we don't have any emissions standards in Pinal county (Arizona) where I live. The dealer I go to (Tempe Power Nissan) seems to be willing to do almost anything for their customers, of course you'll pay more than any other shop.

We don't have any here in South Dakota either, dealership still wouldn't touch it.
