I bought my 2015 SV Crew in November 2015. The NAV system seems to be quite outdated, particularly on roads less than three years old, and current restaurants, stores, etc.

I know I can buy an update disc form Nissan for $160, and if that's my only solution then I will, but it kinda frosts my cookies to have to pay that kind of money to update a four week old truck.

Are there any other solutions? Will the dealer update this if I take it in? (I know I can call them for that answer, but I like to know my options before I call.)

Your Titan is still under warranty and that would be the best option to address this. Call 'em and ask at least.
It's likely that the 2015 already has the most current maps available at this time.

I had the same issues with a Garmin Nuvi 350. My neighborhood didn't appear on the most recent map updates until a few years ago, and my neighborhood was built in 2001.

The nav system runs off an SD card. I checked mine and it's no wonder it is outdated, they put a 2011 version in my brand new 2015.
I have contacted Nissan about this and am waiting to hear back.
Suggest you check your SD card and if it too is out of date then get hold of Nissan about updating it. Hardly fair to use a 4 year old card when a 2015 card is available. By the way the 2015 is listed for $149 at Nissan Canada's web site. If they try and make me pay for it I will raise one helluva stink.

Heard back from Nissan Navigation, they "do not provided free of charge map updates".
So I sent them some clarification;

How can I put this more clearly?
I purchased a BRAND NEW 2015 Nissan Titan last month, January 2016.
On examining the SD card that came in the Navigation system I found that it is a 2011 version, FOUR YEARS OLD/OUT OF DATE/NOT UP TO PAR.
I would expect that a BRAND NEW 2015 NISSAN TITAN WOULD COME WITH AN UP TO DATE NAVIGATION SYSTEM SD CARD.
Do you get the point I’m trying to make here? Do you think that it’s fair that I pony up for an UP TO DATE SD CARD when I have already PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2015 NISSAN TITAN A MONTH AGO???
I am not asking for a free of charge map update. I am asking that the BRAND NEW 2015 NISSAN TITAN I PURCHASED LAST MONTH BE EQUIPPED WITH AN UP TO DATE NAVIGATION SYSTEM CARD, NOT SOME LEFTOVER OUT OF DATE FOUR YEAR OLD CARD.
I don’t think that’s an unreasonable request.
Please reconsider your answer and forward this to the appropriate department so that I may get the up to date Navigation System card to which I believe I am entitled.

Sorry for yelling, but sometimes you just have to in order to get your point across.

We'll see what kind of response they have to that.

So I heard back from Nissan Navigation, "We are only an ordering desk to sell products for our customers who would like to purchase a map update"
I am going to see the dealer tomorrow (Saturday) and see if he can do something. There is a version 6.0 for 2015 and the one they are selling on Nissan Nav is;

Nissan LCN2 Kai Navigation System United States & Canada 2016 Year SD Card v7.0

Part number U4411-0080-510

I will see if I can score a copy of 6.0, 2015 instead of the 2011 one that came in the truck.
Sounds a little sleezy putting 4 year old data in a brand new truck when there's a newer version readily available.

I wonder if some knucklehead at the dealership took your 2015 SD card to use on another Titan.

Since an SD card is now used does that mean that there is no longer a DVD/CD player under the passenger seat?

That is correct. No longer a DVD under the seat.

And Nissan Navigation is a joke. I bought my 2010 in Oregon with a fully operational Navigation system, drove it up to Alaska and as soon as I crossed the border from Canada to Alaska at Beaver Creek, the map stopped. The state of Alaska isn't even part of mapping and two updates later, still not part of it (except for a tiny sliver of Southeast Alaska). I beetched and moaned multiple times and got zero support. Four years later, and to this day, any time I accidentally turn on the nav, it shows the Canadian border... My $99 TomTom can be updated with anywhere in the world.

These car manufacturer navigation system are going the way of the Dodo bird. Anyone with a smart phone has better, more up to date maps than what rolls off the dealer's lot. While I still use the navigation on my truck I stopped doing the updates.

I second that. It sounds like dealer shenanigans. I'd bet someone at the dealership exchanged his old, outdated card for the new one in your Titan. The person who did it probably didn't think who ever bought your Titan would even notice. Even if they did, the buyer wouldn't suspect anything, or be able to figure out what happened. I have a 2015 Titan, and my nav card is current. So it's a far bet the factory is putting in the correct nav card.

The problem is that by the time a new car hits the showroom floor, the entertainment and navigation systems that are included are already out of date. Those systems were probably designed two to three years before a car hits the market. This is going to be an ongoing problem until manufacturers add over air software update options to their software, but then the after a few years the hardware will be outdated.

So only info i found was under settings, navigation, Map data information: release sd2-GENJ_NA_B.A v4 and version 2107218786. Short of taking out the SD card and putting it in a computer, is there a way to know?

No I got mine at North Island in Campbell River

Funny you should mention that, the salesman said he could check other new cars for an up to date card.

I'll check again, but I think it was Options/System and then about 8-10 pages of scrolling through licensing details.

The Garmin I have been using has lifetime updates too, it would be nice not to have another cord snaking around the dash but I could use it again. Either that or find a replacement for the OE system, the Rockford Fosgate ain't exactly top of the heap for sound quality, after all it is a "factory" system. Probably be a double DIN make it fit like it was meant to be there on the market.

Same problem here the dealership told me I have to order updates from Nissan. I have found one on ebay but, still do not believe that I should have to purchase. So you sell me a 2014 in 2015 and the update not included. As much money Nissan is getting for these vehicles there is no way they should charge that much for a SD card that is probably being made for 3 bucks. I also have a Jeep and they always just send the update cards in the mail. Really Nissan just how much do the SD card cost you? Come on Nissan you can do better than this. I'm fumed.

UPDATE: I finally bit the bullet and bought the latest version of the maps. It's better than the original, and Nissan had it on sale for $99. That said, this nav system sucks. It is cumbersome to use, quirky, and not nearly as easy to read as my aftermarket Garmin was on my last Titan. My solution was to buy a Fusion5 Tablet for $99 on Amazon. I added the Google map app and the Waze app to it and WAH-LA! I have an easy to use, easy to see nav system that is 1000% better than the one Nissan sold me.

Now if only someone would figure out a way to run those maps on the Nissan Nav screen via Blue Tooth ............
