I have a 2017 SL (gas motor) with about 2200 miles on it. I've had it for around 2 months. This afternoon I hop in and when I went to start it up and it attempted to turn over then shut off. It caught me off guard so I let it sit for a minute and tried again and it started up after seeming to struggle again.

I feel confident in saying it's not an issue with where I get fuel from. I go to the same gas station with my work truck and never have any issues, and that one gets filled up just about every other day (life on the railroad).

Has anyone else seen something like this? I don't want to have a knee jerk reaction of going right to the dealer. I figured I'd wait and see if it happens again but in the meantime I'd check with you fellas.

Thanks,
Mike

Having similar issue push button to start seems like it won't run on all cylinders push button to shut off and restart runs fine.

It would be great if the original poster followed up on if it was a one time issue or how it was resolved.
Too often people come in and post the situation to never return and tell the back end of the story.

I have had this happen in my previous Nissans... even ones with keyed ignition..

When I complained to dealer the tech stated anytime the engine is started cold you need to drive it or let it idle until the temp guage registers in normal zone. He said when engine is started cold the fuel mix is very rich and if car is turned off while still cold and restarted at a later time some minor flooding occurs causing hard restart and rough running..

I used to park behind my wife and would move my car over in the morning to let her out. Engine would run for less than a minute or two.. Then later in morning when I restarted to go to work the car would sometimes be hard to start and run rough for a few minutes..

I took the techs advice an never experienced the issue again....

May be worth trying...

I have the same issue, had the engine short block replacement about 30+ thousand ago has do it three times in the last month and I did it once shortly after the engine job was done. Same thing sounds like running on4 cylinders shut off then start it again and no warning lights or anything, I had them check it out the first time at the dealership that did the engine job and they found nothing no codes !! This 2017 SL has to be the best and the worse Titan this is #4 I have owned the other 3 were PRO4X models ( 05-08-13) they had 130,000 plus no engine issues. I'm not sure building the 5.6 to [email protected] hp was a good idea. I live in Northern NH.

As a starting point, un-plug the voltage regulator. The harness can be seen in the link below attached to the battery cable. I had some pretty weird intermittent issues after I replaced my OEM battery - starting hesitation, limp mode, etc. After unplugging this harness, all the issues are gone. When my truck had trouble starting, it did the same thing as yours, sounded and felt like it was running on a couple cylinders and no codes were present. It will take a drive or two for the alternator to charge up the battery to the proper level, so don't fear if the starting issue happens right after unplugging this. If the problem persists, I'd recommend replacing your battery. Either way, this isn't an engine issue; it's electrical.

Thanks I will try it, one question do you leave it permanently unplugged ?
