What do people find the dealers charging for oil changes? Mine is $92...I'll eventually do it myself but prefer to spend the time fishing or on the boat..never paid that much for an oil change before so quite the price shock

Nissan specs a synthetic blend oil so guessing that is what was used. Holds just under 7 qts.
DIY with full synthetic top brand oil and extended life filter is about $50. - with top brand blend oil about 40. to 45. - and top brand conventional oil about 35.
On an SV without skid plate, oil change is real easy - about 20 minute job including cleanup.

7 Quarts of Mobile 1 Full Synthetic, Extended Performance (up to 15k between changes) is about $40-45 (I buy 3 - 5 qt jugs at a time at walmart for $28 each) and a Mobile 1 extended performance filter (good for up to 20k miles) for $10. Your mainly paying for the tech's time, probably charging you for 1/2 hour shop rate (about $40-45)and $40 for parts.

I bring my own oil to the dealer that I buy at Walmart and for a filter and labor is about $35 and the oil full synthetic Valvoline is about $35 for the 7 quarts. That way I know what oil is going in rather them them pumping it in from drum that says full synthetic.

$80 here but also includes the tire rotation. Very much worth it in my opinion.

~$50 if I bought all of the materials did it myself. But for the extra $30 I don't have to worry about disposing oil (which requires me to contain it and run to the local auto parts store to dump) or any clean up work and my tires get rotated.

Just dump it down the storm drain. Get a 30 pack with all the money you save!

I was offered free oil changes from my dealer too but still prefer to pay for the supplies and do it myself.

Yes sir I agree... entry level lube techs with their power tools stripping out skid plate bolts and drain plugs...

Plus doing it myself helps me sleep better at night...

And was kidding in my previous post about pouring oil out wherever. My city has free spent oil recycling drop off. U just drive up and show your electric bill and they unload from back of your truck... can’t be any easier...

The local auto parts store here has a recycle barrel to drop of used oil. I changed my own oil on my 1st generation Titan for the 14 years I owned it. Kinda getting to the age where I will pay people to do that stuff.

I'm 48. Make enough money to pay people to do that stuff.

Don't have to get dirty. No clean up work. No having to drive somewhere with the drain pan to recycle the used oil. No jacking up the car to swap tires etc. My working on car days have pretty much come to an end.

I value my personal time more than money. Rather spend it fishing, hunting, mountain biking etc. You can always make more money, but you can never make more time.

U are right about time....which is why I got this lift to make the oil changes and tire rotations go much faster!!! And with two kids driving soon and as fragile as cars these days are getting....

My dealer charges me $20, I bring in my oil, and they change it and use a Nissan filter. I've been using Mobil super syn, the quarts look EXACTLY like Nissan oil except for color. I go to Discount Tire for rotations, free, and flat repairs also free, regardless where you bought the tires.
