I created this thread strictly for reviews, reports, issues, and transmission reports for the 2018 titan.

17 and 18 model years seem to be totally different when compared to the transmission issues.

So, create posts here about the 2018 model year.

Oddly enough, this forum never created another topic area past the 2016 Titan General forum, and here it is almost end of 2018.

I have noticed ZERO issues with mine so far. Transmission seems smooth and consistent with shift points. I floored it, and didn't get the shift shock.

Rides smooth as a truck can with no vibrations.

so, lets keep 2018 reviews and posts confined to this thread.

Sound like a plan?

As I approach 3k in miles with my 2018 Midnight SV, I gotta say I love it so far. However, I'm not sure what I have been feeling is the same as the 17's but I do commute A LOT and sit in traffic. Only one issue I've had:

-Usually around 0-30ish mph range IN TRAFFIC - feels like the truck is lunging forward at times depending how hard I touch the accelerator.. even with having the AC off it feels like the truck doesn't know if it wants to up shift or down shift and sometimes jerks around (its like the truck is guessing between gears 1 through 3? lol). This is the only issue I've felt so far and like I said at the start I've only noticed this in rush hour traffic.. going down side roads and stuff I can't say I notice this.

-Throughout the spectrum through going normal highway speeds, speeding up on ramps, side streets etc feels good. No real issues. Absolutely loving it so far.

I feel most of the issues arise from owners who don’t understand the nuances of their Nissan truck.
Not in my case. My '05 with 170K miles runs, idles, shifts and drives perfectly. I wish I could say the same about my '17. I've had about 20 cars and trucks in 34 years of driving, so I'm quite certain I know what "running right" and "not running right" are <img src="http://www.titantalk.com/forums/images/smilies/cheers.gif" border="0" alt="" title="" class="inlineimg" /> I'm not talking about nuances. Everybody that has ridden in my '17 notices the RPM fluctuations and surges, and lugging when it chooses a gear too high. It's not subtle. Now mine doesn't seem to be as bad as others, with gears banging when shifting from 7th to 3rd or whatever, I don't have any lack of power some are stating, and mine isn't a danger on the interstate from not being able to get up to accelerate fast enough. So mine's problems are less severe than others, but they are absolutely there to the extent I've described. Oh, and 12 mpg. If I hit reset, it usually starts out nice and high in 18's-19's or even the 20's, then gradually over the next day or 2, and over the next 20-30 miles, creeps its way down lower and lower to 12._ mpg. I'm lucky if it stays in the 13's.

Dammit! I wasn't gonna post in this thread about my '17! Sorry! I'll delete if you want.
I understand completely. My 05 F150 5.4 v8 was different than my 05 F250 v10 also. All vehicles have their differences but it’s up to us to recognize them. I totally get why there are fluctuations in throttle and shifts, because of the situations I’m driving in with my Titan. It all is normal to me but to others it may seem problematic. That’s ok too but mine are normal to me and I have no issues whatsoever with it.

My experience with vehicle enthusiast web forums is that we hear all about the complaints far too often but never the praises. I always take negative comments with a grain of salt especially when I don’t see an issue because the praises are never posted as often as the complaints.

I have a 2018 Pro-4X. No issues at all, nor any behavior that gives me pause; 11k miles and counting over the past four months of ownership.

Markedly different than the experience I had when test driving the 2017 models and the 2017 Titan that my girlfriend’s dad has.

I don’t know what they changed, but it was something. I forwent several thousands dollars of extra rebates and incentives to go with the 2018 model; boy am I glad that I did.

Oddly enough, this forum never created another topic area past the 2016 Titan General forum, and here it is almost end of 2018.
The 2016 Forums refer to any 2nd Gen Titan 2016-whenever Gen 3 comes along. Actually maybe Gen2 would have been a better subdivision than 2016.

I have a 2018 SVME and have not experienced any serious issue although sometimes it does hunt a bit and I have felt the surging described by @Lurch071 in off/on accelerator applications.

Although I bought mine late model year (~C$15k off list), it was actually manufactured very early in the year (December '17) so tranny may not have later flashes.

I noticed that when I tow a trailer and put it in Tow Mode, the shift points seem to be higher, including even more so during down shifts. The difference is ... I LIKE IT! Makes me wanna keep it in Tow Mode all the time! Problem being I'm sure my already abysmal mileage will get even worse.

Mine will occasionally do the stick-in-3rd thing ... at least I think that's the gear, not positive ... but it doesn't seem to last very long so I just deal with it. And again, I kinda like the sound ... with my AFE exhaust system.

I just got a 19 SL Midnight....currently has 1400 miles on it, and I'm watching and listening every day like a hawk....def does better in tow haul mode than reg, will check my build date tomorrow...but I'm the first 19 on this thread that might have a small issue as well. The kicker is I sell Titans for a living, and a couple of techs have them as well, I was a mechanic for 25 years prior to selling them, and 2 techs have already replaced their trannys under warranty....soooooo we all watch ours daily....so I'll keep this thread posted if and when the 19 follows suit with the others on here.

Cheers

I have a 2018 SV with just under 1000 miles. Ride is nice and smooth, but I must say that it doesn't respond well to bumps on the road. It's night and day when I sit in with my friend's new GMC Sierra to compare.

Lets say if I drove over a raised sewer cover or a very small pothole, the truck sounds very "clunky", if you will. Everytime I run over one, it's clunk clunk clunk, as if the shocks were giving out and things were loose/vibrating underneath. When my buddy drive his Sierra through the same stuff, it's noticeably smoother with less clunky sound and feel.

Don't know it's just my truck? Either way, I'm not sure if I can say it's a solidly built vehicle.

I kinda wish engineers would have made shift pattern a little smoother. Like other have said. Seems a little sluggish off the line. I might through a Pedal Commander in mine. Other then that solid truck. Compared to other trucks I like the simplicity of the Titan. Pretty easy to work on. I love the placement of oil filter. Real easy to get on and off unlike the Rams and Fords I've worked on. I had the dealer do a ECM update. Seems to be getting better gas mileage now.

I purchased my 2018 Titan SV 4x4 new on 4-30-19. I was actually in the market for a used truck until I found about the $6,000 rebates plus additional dealer discounts at that time to get rid of the remaining 2018’s. My truck is an SV 4x4 with the Covenience Package, Utility Package, Tow Package, splash guards and floor mats. The sticker price was $47,215 and I got it out the door with T.T.T. for $33,400, not much more than most of the used trucks I had looked at. I added a Bakflip MX4 tonneau cover, which I highly recommend, 5” oval running boards, factory fog lights. I test drove a 2018 Chevy Silverado Z71, but it felt sluggish compared to the Titan. I looked at F150s’ and Rams’ but the Titan towed more than all of the other base engine trucks, was far less expensive because of the discounts and rebates than the other trucks trim levels with larger engines, and Titan had a much longer warranty with 5yr/ 100,000 miles bumper to bumper. Overall, I am very happy with the Titan in every way. I didn’t want or need more gadgets than the Titan has. I like the look of the truck (mine is Brilliant Silver with black cloth interior), it rides very good, the cabin is quiet, it has excellent power. I would have liked a black leather interior but I didn’t want to pay the extra cost. I would also have liked the locking rear differential of the Pro-4X, but didn’t want to pay the extra cost (no dealers anywhere near me had leftover 2018 Pro-4X models anyway). I wish it did get better fuel economy, but I didn’t buy it for that. I have had a slight problem with the transmission feeling like it didn’t know which gear it should be in sometimes, this is most evident when driving low speeds on curvy mountain roads. I just had the truck in for it’s first oil change at 5500 miles yesterday and I asked the dealer to check out the transmission. They said they could not get it to duplicate the problem and there were no updates for 2018 transmissions. I will have to see how this continues to do. I was also not part of the alternator harness recall I read about on another post. My manufacture date was 05/2018.
