Some have the maximum rim width listed as 8.5" other brands at 9". Best to check the spec sheet for your size on the manufacturers' website.

NorCal, thanks for the info. I was looking at getting the BFG TA KO's or Nitto TG's. Do think I will have any rubbing issues with that size?

There's a good chance you'll need the pinch-weld-mod with a 9" wide rim. If the backspacing is 5.75" or the stock 5.5" you might be o.k., but most of the 9" rims have a 4.5" backspacing.

Since there are a limited selection of tires in this size, approved for a 9" width rim, I'd either use your stock rims, or find an aftermarket 8" or 8.5" width rim, if you are set on this tire size.

Nitto TG states 8.5" max. rim width.
BFG AT KO doesn't list a 275/70/18.
Toyo AT also state 8.5" max. width.
Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor has a 9" max. rim width listed at Tirerack.com for this size.

Thanks again for all the good info. I might just go back to my stock wheels in order to get the desired look.

I think the '08 Pro4X has this exact size tire. I'm not sure what width the rims are?

The Pro X has 18x8 wheels. Looks like I will go back to my stock rims. If anyone is interested in HELO Black Maxx 18x9 wheels w/ cooper Zeon LTZ 285/60/18, please send me an e-mail. I have only put about 250 miles on them.

FWIW you might find some PRO4X take-offs on here or ebay. You would get wheels and tires in one shot. I think the new OR wheels look pretty good.

Those are nice too, but I'm trying to avoid buying new wheels also. I might look into a 305/65/18 as another solution. I know I might get some rub, but I can work around that. I will chalk this up to lessons learned for when I save up for my '09 diesel Titan.
