would 315/70/r17d tires fit safely on 7.5" rims?

8.5" rims are about $411 each, tires are about $180 each

note: 315mm/25.4mm per inch = 12.4"

so about 34.3x12.4


tried http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tiretech.htm, but nothing else available for Armada (Titan), but BF Goodwrench's got 315/70/r17s.

315/25 = 12.6 25 mm to 1 inch


12.6 * .70 = 8.82
8.82+8.82+17= 34.64

Ok, corrected the math, must have had something in there b4 i entered in this.

12.6 inches on a 7.5 rim, I would not do that! Sorry for the earlier misleading.

Doghouse, I think your calculator is broken. Pluckyew, I don't know about the wheel size for 315mm, but the recommended wheel width for a 31x10.50 is 7"-9". Maybe you can find your anwer at this link: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/tiretech.htm

Apparently, tires in this size are dirt cheap at Hummer dealers, as dealer take offs. Take a look at this thread for more info;
