Been changing my own oil for years. 3rd titan. Also had in the past, 3 Pathfinders, Murano, 350Z, 2 Frontiers, 720, etc....
Never had any problems changing my or family's oil. This time the new 2024 Pro4X was different. All my oil filter wrenches would not work. It was ungodly tight from the factory.
Finally I put a silicone jar lid opener into a oil filter wrench, socket type, and used a long handled socket wrench and it came off. Now that the Fram is on there it will be so much easier.
Can't believe how tight that thing was. Only time I have ever had that problem is with GF's last two Hondas and a brand new tractor. What a pain.

Nissan puts it on gorilla tight. I put a hash mark with a maker on the filter bottom and based on the makers spec I again a clock face as soon as the gasket makes contact then only tighten to there. Nissan states 2/3 of a turn and Mobil1 (my preferred filter) 3/4-1 turn. You won’t ever be too tight or loose with an oil leak that way. If it’s cold out the rubber is harder to compress which is why I imagine where it must end up when done. Did your filter say MAHLE on it? Somehow for no explainable reason I still have that original filter on a shelf four years later.

I believe the original did say that.

Have my similar wrench below. It is very effective but it will crush old fillers when you twist a bit harder. You can use your hand to screw in new filters without any tools and they hold well.

All factory installed oil filter I've ever handled were super tight.

don't know why... the guy installing them must have a really strong wrist and forearm from installing thousands of filter... lol.

I use Fram Ultra filters on the Titan and our other cars. I know it does not have the wire backed media that it did until a few years ago. There are upper grades of Fram now vs. the Ultra. I also use the Purolator Boss, Mobil 1 and Nissan filters on the Titan. The Fram Ultra is a decent enough filter. I would not worry about using it.
