It snowed pretty good here in KY and I had been using 4H when on the roads and in tougher areas. Last year in this weather 4H and 4L worked great, this year though there is a lot of squeaking and some grinding/popping noise when it is engaged. It seems to handle fine but the noise is of concern. When it is in 2WD I have no problems or noises whatsoever.

Mine could have been repaired but it still couldn't have lasted. My cv axle cracked the housing on the differential. The early front diffs are junk. The cv shafts on the driver side is loose and has a lot of play on all of them. they are known for popping out and even if you pop them in they can still come out. There is a clip in there that holds them in but they are weak. I ended up replacing mine. It was 1100 bucks. Sucks but the new one has been very durable. The new ones are made better or so I have been told. You can try and fix it but if you use your 4x4 a lot like I do it not last imo.

I took it in to a guy in BG that is great with AWD/4WD vehicles. His first thought was just what you had said happened with yours and is a common occurrence in the 04-06 Titans. After checking it out thought it was not that and the only thing he could tell was that my driver front hub assembly was throwing grease. I replaced that and then noticed the threads on my CV axle were stripped so bad that it was basically shredding the threads off of the axle. I wasnt able to change the cv axle myself from my driveway and had it replaced by my tech. Noise persisted. After he checked it out for another day he found out that the u-joints on the drive shaft were shot and causing all of the noise. Swapped those out and noise and grinding are gone.

Good to hear. Glad it didn't cost you a new diff
