$570 to change a Climate control knob?

Hello ,
First time poster here. Looking for some help from fellow Titan owners.
Our Nissan dealership here in Dublin California is charging me $570 to replace ONE climate control knob (the round fan knob)!!! Yes That's what I told the mechanic too? Are you f***ing kidding me? He said that he has to replace the whole front panel and that the knob is tied to the whole center panel. Is he yanking my chain or do i have no recourse but bite the bullet on this one.
Any advice would be much appreciated.
BTW I have a quad cab 04. with 50k miles on it.

edit: sorry if I posted this in the wrong forum..so if the mods are looking could someone move this post to the Titan Dealer problems forum THX!

He is reading it directly out of the book likely. Go to one of the site sponsors and ask for the outer ring of the knob. It comes right off by the way. That or wait 10 minutes for BBF to get here. He will even get you the part number. That man is a living parts manual.
Thanks for the quick response. Yeah the knob comes off but its not engaging the fan when I turn it..there is no clicking action when i turn it .. so either the whole thing is borked I looked at the knob closely and I don't see any jagged edges where it could have broken off.
I've looked around on similar problme threads and looks like I'm going to eat this just to get this thing fix.
The panel that houses the controls is easily changed yourself. If you know for sure that this is what is wrong, I would again recommend one of the NissanPartsPimps on here for the pricing. PM BBF to get the exact part number if you need to. This is simple to do, and I would not pay them for the labor unless you just know that it is something you are not comfortable with doing.

Hope this helps
Them knobs are about $10. You can get it from Courtesy Parts . It show a part number as 27559-7S000 for knob control but don't say which one.
Diagram show how to take it apart.

I had a similar problem where the fan control would not turn on. The unit behind the knobs is one unit I thought that the knob just needed to be replaced. Here is the link and I paid $500 for unit and labor.

I took the radio bezel off and saw PN 27500-ZH11A for the air control module.

This is what I had replaced because the fan control stopped working and it was not just the knob its self.

Yes the part number above is for the fan control unit, located behind the radio bezel. $190 plus a little time sure beat the $570 his dealer was asking for.:D

Yes it does..I wish I new about the cheap nissan parts site when mine went out.
Thank you again for all the help especailly to Baseballfanz. I was able to order the part through my local nissan dealer for $190 plus tax with the help from our inhouse mechanic's resale license. The part they provided me was 275000-2S811 (AC Control unit).
They have to base it with my VIN ..and that's the part number they came up with. Hopefully I would be able to install this with no help at all.

Again Thank you.
I have a 2005 armada and the drivers side climate control switch is temperamental and sometimes does not move the temperature up.any suggestions?
I would check Ebay or a junkyard. I bought mine from a member here that crashed his truck.
Sorry for digging up an old thread. My heater blower knob took a dump and I need to replace the module. Can someone tell me how to remove the radio/climate control bezel so I can get at the module? Thanks. Great forum here.

Remove radio faceplate, it's just clips holding it in. Once you unplug all the harness, flip out over to where you're looking at the back side. You'll see 4 torx screws holding the controller in.
