I'm getting a 2008 KC 2wd with towing package next week.
I have a 25' 5th wheel I want tow. Not sure which hitch I need. Do I need a slider hitch or standard hitch? One web site said if bed in under 6' you need a slider. The KC bed is 6'7" so it should only need a standard 5th wheel. Is my thinking incorrect?

I'm going to ask about the pin weight for that trailer...How much?

I would take some measurements and draw a diagram of where the front corners of your 5th wheel are in relation to the pin. Maybe even make a cardboard template. Then see how that fits with making turns and when it would be likely to hit your cab. Different trailers will have different pin positions and therefor turning angles. You can find endless discussion about this on rv.net, if you want the "don't worry" solution, the auto-sliding hitches take care of it (for a significant price). I think you can get by without a slider, but you will have to learn to watch out for tight turns, or you might knock out a back window. My guess is that with a typical 5th wheel, you couldn't turn too tight while going forward (like doing a u-turn), but you would definitely have to keep an eye on it backing up.

I agree that w/o airbags 1000# is as much as I would go. W/ airbags your only limit on this truck is tire wieght rating and GCVWR. W/ my set up I am at 14200# GCVWR and have no problems with power, sway, or stopping. I am very proud of my truck.
