Does anybody else notice there idle is at 900 rpm some times after the truck is fully warmed up. My '04 never did this, it was at 600 all the time. My '08.5 has some strange issues like that, it also has a rattle that sounds like it's coming from the intake manifold at 2000 rpm only in drive not park. Is there a valve in the manifold that could be causing this? I love my truck but these issues are getting on my nerves:crying:.

I have an 08 and the RPM's are steady. I do have the rattle and I believe it is one of the heat shields, not the manifold. It appears the clamps heat up and expand and the shield vibrates. On mine it is not a constant noise, it starts and stops, but never when the truck is cold.

The ratting sound I get sounds like it's coming from the firewall in front of the dash. It only happens under load at 2000 rpm, and I can change it's intensity by varying the throttle position. It does this in all gears at 2000 rpm, the dealer has no clue (what a shock). I have checked all the heat shields and they all seem to be tight, and I can't see anything touching the firewall that would do this. The truck only has 9500 miles on it, it started making this noise at about 8000 miles. I wish there was a dyno facility near me so I could simulate the condition while looking under the hood.

maybe you can jack the rear up on jackstands, put in gear and go to 2000 rpm with an assistant on the throttle while you look under the hood.
I thought about that but the motor needs a load on it to reproduce the sound. Maybe I should remove the hood, kidnap a Nissan rep and tie him to the grill Mad Max style, and take him for a spin, maybe then he could find the problem, LOL........... Is it beer thirty yet?
