Wow. 4 year old thread back from the dead! I love it.

This is just the way it is with our trucks. It explains it in your user manual (see page 4-13). If the temp is above 36F, and you run the defroster longer than a minute or so, the a/c compressor continues to run to dehumidify the air. It's supposed to only run until either the fan is shut off, or the truck is shut off, but in my experience shutting the fan off doesn't seem to do anything. Unless it's really cold out, if you turn the defrost on and leave it on longer than a minute, the a/c compressor is running until you shut the truck off again. Annoying.

I just make sure I don't leave the defroster on too long. I'll sometimes run it almost a minute, switch it to vent or something and immediately switch it back on. That seems to give me longer defrost time without the compressor continuing to run.

I know. They've doubled since then nearly. Reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-diculous.
