Ok y'all, I'm on my third alternator. The culprit: the leak at the banjo bolt constantly dripping on the alternator. Several mechanics and racers I have consulted have assured me that not only did this slow drip kill my second alternator ( YouTube gumming and debris build up) , but the same drip (which I've had for 4 years) caused a weakening in the component which allowed my tightening of the nut on the positive post to snap it completely off with very little torque, which was the cause of my first alternator replacement. Magnetism and current when the component is saturated causes weakening of the entire structure.
The simple fix is simply to repair any power steering pump leaks you have as soon as possible or be prepared to replace the alternator periodically. hope this helps somebody.
