Usually I toss some type of sports related hitch cover in it, but I came across the rings that attach to the receiver hitch & pin.

Any suggestions for a nice solid one? Are they reliable? That's mostly why I'm asking...

Are you going to tow or pull with it? If so, :google: a load rated one.

If not, $9.99 at Harbor Freight.

Done... :dunno:

Not tow, not sure if you could tow with a D ring, but I do use my truck "enough" to pull up **** outta the ground and the occasional pull out of my yard in the winter when people under estimate the corner I live on and end up in my ****ing ditch. I did google, I see some of the top results are like 9K lbs. I figured a solid one with no welds is what I want.

I was actually trying to describe the pintle hook type receivers and just now found what I wanted. It just wasn't hitting on the key words Google needed!

Yeah, I won't be pulling out anything off road-ish per sey. Exactly that, ditches and the occasional tree stump/yard work. Appreciate the replies. I love having a variety of options so maybe I'll get a lil' bit of everything! I just wanted to steer clear of junk which is pretty easy to figure out anyway with Google.

I'm kind of diggin' this one for an all around: [ame]https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004K23KQ0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1[/ame]

Or this Ultrahook is slick! http://factor55.com/product/limited-edition-colors

i have this, no idea on the weight rating but ive tugged chevy 2500s out of the mud with it.

Curt Forged Tow-Hook Mount : Cabela's

if you are going to use them, get a reputable named product.

crosby is good. then it depends on the pin size.

this site has a chart.

https://www.certifiedslings.com/load-limits/shackles-a-hooks/

if your looking for something like this

https://www.4wheelparts.com/Winches...3lCsuYlOawEYCYt4-Kie7cb5LWW9s-exoCv6EQAvD_BwE

it states a 3/4in pin, so about 4T weight rating if its not a Chinese shackle.

I have the amazon one you posted, works great, I leave it in as a step also. Good deterrent for people following to closely also. It's not a super tight fit so a little tape oround the inserted end worked wonders.

I keep thinking this is the route I'm going. I like the step idea and it's rated about the same as a hitch/d-ring combo anyway.

I love Factor55's Hitchlink with a Crosby shackle, though, but that's like a $110 set-up which is probably over kill in the first place. The step would serve multiply purposes as well.

HitchLink 2.0 ? Factor 55
