While looking at the non-extendable bed extender, I noticed that if you rotate it to the 12:00 position, it comes out.
This makes sense, but the problem is that someone could steal it,
but only if you leave the tailgate unlocked......
If you leave the tailgate up, then the extender can't be rotated up.
