I have an 08 Titan LE with 45,000 miles.. A few weeks ago I started to hear what I would describe as a "clicking" noise in my front driver side.. Almost sounds like a piece of metal or something is in the tire and when I go straight, I hear it clicking but if I turn ever so slightly it goes away..

So I deal with it for a while until it gets annoying as hell.. I make an appointment with my local mechanic and while I wait for that appointment it starts to make a horrible squeaking noise when turning.. So two different things..

I drop it off and they tell me I need new brakes (rotors and pads) as they were all rusted out and that was causing the noise.. I say OK and pay the $300 (not sure if that's a good price or not.. It was $75 labor and the rest parts)...

So now, it's still making that clicking noise.. AND it's starting to make the same squeaking noise AGAIN.. I take it back in and they just called me back.. Both hub bearing assemblies "have play" and need replaced.. That's causing both the clicking and the rotor to rub (or something like that)..

Cost is about $625+ tax.. So I'm going to be out a grand here.. Before I told them to go ahead I wanted to see if that was an OK price and if that sounds like the problem..

Thanks fellas..

Just had a hub replaced at the dealership, it was just under $400, 2 for just over $600 sounds reasonable. Mine wasn't clicking, but was noticing an occasional grinding noise on tight corners going to the right. When I jacked it up there was not much play, but I did notice it clicking when I was checking for play when pushing it back and forth.

IIRC our hubs are pretty easy to swap out.

Once you remove the rim/tire & the brake assembly the hubs are held on by 3 bolts.

New hubs come w/ the wheel speed sensor already installed & you just plug it into the existing harness.

I watched the tech do mine, took him longer the brak the hub free than anything else, worked on it for 20 minutes with an air hammer, then switched to an air chisel. Drpeeb, if you spent that much just for the bearings, you were ripped off, OEM hub with bearings is only about $175.

I don't doubt it. But I've tried local non-Nissan shops with questionable results. And we only have one Nissan dealership. And I wasn't in position to be able to attempt the job myself ... one I haven't done before. Such is life.

Yup. Sometimes you just shell it out because the alternatives all suck.

Dang, I though all dealerships charged the same. I only have one dealership here too, but mine was $385 about 2 weeks ago for the drivers side hub.

I must say, my concern about doing the job myself isn't getting the old one off, or getting the new one on. Yep, that's right, it's keeping the new one on. HAHA! ::crying::
