Took my AEM dry flow filter out the other day (gray one) and it was dirty as hell. Figured that much cause my truck MPG is really suffering...

Anyways, I just took it inside and rinsed the filter out with tap water, let it dry and then reinstalled. Got a ton of dirt out of it, but got to wondering if I would hurt the filter. I know in the past I have had nothing but K&N filters. And they need to be cleaned with a solution and then recharged with the red oil.

I know AEM has a cleaning solution for the filter, but I haven't used it.

I do the same thing, rinse it off, then usually put my wet vac in it to get excess water out and let it dry for a couple hours.

The AEM is a Synthetic material. It is safe to use Dishwashing Liquid to wash. That is what I do, then towel dry and stick on a shelf in the Dryer on low to medium heat.

I used the cleaning solution from AEM. Follow as per directions and you'll have a long filter life and optimal performance.
