Recently picked up my new Titan and when driving at night I feel like I'm outdriving my headlights by 45mph. I don't have fogs but I upgraded to Silverstar Ultra's 9005/9006. Now the light is much brighter and whiter but doesn't seem to project much further than the stock bulbs. Has anyone had any success by adjusting the headlights up a little to make the light project a little further out? I don't want to blind oncomers but it sure would be nice to actually be able to see. I'll probably add fog lamps in the near future, I am sure they will help but I cannot imagine they will project much further than the main lamps. Any suggestions? Please help...and don't say buy HID's :p

The fogs won't help. Just adjust the headlamps up a little bit. There's a "how to" here somewhere. Did you notice this wit hthe stock bulbs? Maybe the new ones aren't as bright as you thought?

The headlights may not be aimed properly from the factory.
I owned a truck with the headlights aimed much too low
from the factory...........first time I drove at night I couldn't
see but a short distance in front of the truck.

I know what he is talking about. If you're driving down a dark road ar 45-55 the headlight projection is piss poor. I find myself using the brights to make up for it, but that depends on oncoming traffic. All my other vehicles project much farther than this Titan does.

I agree. My 07 is the same way. I added the fog lights but it didn't help. i read the post about adjusting I just haven't done so yet.

I'm sure it's not an adjustment issue because the light is dispersed ok and is not concentrated like a low aimed light.

Good excuse to lift the truck 2" inches up front...

That was the plan, but after reading some other threads I am now worried about my warranty.

Anyone tell me how sensitive the adjustment screw on the headlights is going to be? I'm going to try some adjustments tonight but wanted to see if anyone else could tell me how many revolutions they had to make on the head of the screw to do any good

Trial and error. The reason we can't say for sure how much it would take is because we can't see in person how low they might be right now. I think that when I installed the mini lift, I had to go at least one full turn, and it might have been more.

Start out with it on a level, dark street and move them both up about a 1/4 turn at a time. Get back in a see what you think. To equalize them (get them both at the same level) shine them on your garage door and adjust the lower one to the height of the higher one. IIRC, the adjustment nut is 8mm.

Edit: And don't overdo it. You still need your high beams to be functional, and not airplane search lights.

Thanks, great info! I'll follow up after I've made the adjustments tonight

Best advice is a little at a time. Like Carbeaux said, you don't want your high beams to be aiming up in the air, they will be useless. I had a 2" lift spacer before I decided to lower my 2 wheel drive. I had to adjust the headlights both times. You will know when you get it right. Park about 25-35 feet from a wall and adjust them a little at a time. Then go for a drive and decide if you like it or not. When you get people flashing and giving you the middle finger you know you got it right. Just kidding, seriously though, check your high beams after the adjustments also. When you need them, it is good to know that they will still be hitting the road and not the sky!

Why not get hid's lol?
I had the 8's in my factory headlights and saw a little better, then when I got my projector headlights I put 10's in them and adjusted them and all and cant see worth a damn, maby theres a reason why it said on the projectors not to put hid's?

It's not very sensitve......it has a very fine thread screw.
If you park near a wall while making the adjustment you will be
able to tell when the light moves up.

It is a fine thread, but think of the geometry involved. A small angle adjustment makes a lot of difference out at 100 ft.

True, but what I mean is that 1/4 turn is going to make
little difference.............it's like what is "not sensitive":)

The 08s are already leveled compared to previous model years. The front sits higher now (wondering how it'll sit when I tow now). HIDs can take care of a lot of sight problems. Cheaper way would be to just raise em' up a bit...or course.

OK problem solved! Turned each of the lights 4 full turns and took it out on backroads through hills and turns and seems much better. Just for the heck of it I took the Silverstars out and put the stock lights back in and went on another drive on the same backroads. These lights just suck! Pulled in the driveway and put Silverstars back in . They are definately worth the money.
I guess I've become spoiled, my 06 Mustang GT has 4 lights in the front and is just awesome to drive in the dark. I get brighted by oncomers every night I drive it. The Titan lights are still lacking a bit IMO but with the proper leveling of the lights done I can live with it. Thanks to all for their input!

Glad it worked for you. I tried the "illegal" 9005 bulb mod
to use in place of the 9006 for a test & it works well, but
I have some concerns about that & staying with the
Silverstar Ultras for now.

What mod are you referring to? I'll stick with my current setup but now you have my curiosity running wild
