Greetings All
Been lurkin now getting ready to buy an 08 Pro-4X. Its a beautiful truck and has just about everything I'd ever want in a truck. Coming from JDM turbo 4bangers over the last 12 years I'm very comfortable with the layout and build quality. Previous to this I've had an old Toyota Helix 1983 which was my first foray into JDM cars and before that an array of US manufacture pickups. I drove it a good 30 minutes and was very impressed with it. I just love the interior which is gorgeous and I thought it ran like a bat out of hell for a truck. Love the engine too.

Asking price for this is 14,000 with 150,000 on the clock. Concerns are:
1. Sellers says there's a tick on warmup. Could be a cracked manifold.
2. Thought I heard a whine from the back when I ran her hard with the back window down. Couldn't hear anything with the windows up so maybe just tire noise.
3. Exhaust is a little ratty which seems odd for such a nice vehicle and well kept. Hopefully theres no wire harness damage.
4. Shocks are roughcountry which I guess means they've been replaced.
5. 150,000 miles seems a little high to me.
6. No rust at all on the body but some on the drive shafts etc.
7. I thought the 2wd-4wd switch acted funny. I tried to put it in 4wd while in park and the seller told me it had to be in neutral. The USA trucks I rent from time to time all shift on the fly

Getting a 180 point inspection done by Nissan tomorrow. Hopefully they'll tell me whats up with this truck, and not see me as a wallet with a big hole in the ground called a truck, in which to throw thousands of dollars. I don't have it. I'm a disabled veteran on a pension. This truck needs to be a DD six months out of the year .

Honestly its more truck than I need. But these little Tacomas and Colorados are going for an arm and leg. Even the little Honda Ridgeline I tried to like wasnt cheap. And I LOVE this truck.

I'll keep you posted-

You'll see that tan under the bed too. I think it's the base coat. The 4 wheel drive should switch on the fly. My 06 did and so does my 15.
Ok thats GREAT to know. I didnt really notice that but I was only looking for rust and saw NONE which was amazing. Only on the drivetrain. When I look at a truck I crawl underneath itstem to stern. Drives people crazy.

Well unfortunately the deal with the 08 fell through. I dont think they wanted the truck to be inspected before purchase.

But I found a gorgeous 2010 Pro.4x that is loaded. Its actually a bit more optioned than Id want, and it doesnt have black interior which I love, but its next to impossible to find everything you want used.

It seems pretty clean for a 2010 that has been driven in the winter. It has less than 100,000 miles and the seller will let me have a prepurchase inspection by a Nissan dealer (truck is there now) so apparently this seller is more transparent than the first one.

It has a little rust on the hood pin (for the latch) which has me a little concerned. No rust on the body except for some tabs and mounting points underneath. It has the vented differential cover so not sure if it was beefed up post-purchase, or came that way off the dealer lot.

It has some squeeks and rattles especially when I took it on a country road. It doesnt seem to ride as "tight" as the 08 but the 08 has Rough Country shocks on it so that could be why. I suppose some new aftermarket shocks and Energy Urethane bushings and this truck would ride nice and tight.

When I was a kid the first thing I did to any old truck I bought (which was every truck I bought), was replace all the suspension bushings, body and bed mount bushings, and vent the differentials (I was into light off roading which meant crossing streams and creeks). I also usually added a ladderbar(s) amf am air compressor.

Pretty sure Ill know by tomorrow-

Rust on hoodlatch.

Probably NOT a big deal to some, but I am very, very picky about this. I have one car that is 8 years old with not one speck of rust on it except some fasteners in the suspension.

I not only wash all of my cars every 10 days during the winter. But I rinse/wash the motors every couple months as well. I dont park my cars in heated garages or parking structures either in order to prevent oxidation. I also clean the door and truck jams to protect them.
