I see lots of post on P0430. Although the item causing the code doesn't seem consistent. I have not changed any engine parts except ECM? I remember there was a recall and the dealer change it about 4months ago. He told me that I would need to change my cat soon. Then about 1 month ago, service light went on and P0430 showed.

Could it be my o2 sensor or is it the cat needs to be replaced?

thanks,
J

If your manifolds are cracked or leaking cat failure is soon behind get it fixed asap to prevent motor damage. Headers and a Tune are the cheapest way out and performance will sky rocket...

Sorry for the very delayed response. If I want to get replacement cat, this means I have to get headers with CAT? I don't really want to add cat back in addition to what needs to be done.
The cats in question are integrated with the exhaust manifolds. You can buy some long tube headers which delete the primary cats, or you could get shorties with aftermarket high flow cats. The B-pipes on 4x4 trucks also have cats, but they don't tend to fail because they are not subjected to the extreme heat that the primary cat sees. A catback exhaust is from the cat back, so it doesn't include a primary catalytic converter. Basically most catbacks for the Titan are actually from the Y-pipe back, so not really a true catback. Anyway...what you need is a set of headers, and you can choose to get long tubes or shorties with cats.

I would go with JBA longtube headers, catted Cajun bpipes and Uprev, these will be the cheapest way out and performance will increase. Stay away from shortie headers if at all possible. Cajun bpipes can get all this to you for about the same price as one oem manifold. Please do your research and check out my i-trader feedback as well as seymore4 with the Uprev tuning. Everything here will bolt up with no fab work required and no dyno required saving you big $$$$.

@nightowl and @nbhunter, Thanks for the advice. Are all your suggestions legal in CA? I just called a muffler shop and they quoted me to an outrageous price for labor ($350). Is this price reasonable? This was the first shop I called.
If legal (w/o cat) in CA then I agree long tubes would be the way to go. The inexpensive way would be to order just a cat legal in CA and cut old out and weld new one back on without replacing headers, correct??

Who makes or sells aftermarket CAT that is legal in CA?

You and I are in the same boat man. I don't know where in so cal you are but Stillen is in Costa Mesa and a supporting vendor on here. He's gonna get back to me on Monday with a header/cat/install price. Don't like throwing #s around but I'm guessing around a G.
