I have a 2017 Nissan Titan XD Pro 4x with 114,000 miles. I have an extended Warranty with Carmax up to 150k. I've already made an appointment to get my truck looked at after I was made aware of the Cylinder 7 TSB issue. Can you tell me from your opinion if this sounds like this issue?

P.S, Sorry about the Portrait VIDEO lol.

Man, is that a diesel? Wow, using the phone make sit sound like ford power stroke

I can't tell. I don't hear it but mine never knocked so

Really hard to tell, its like I hear it but I don’t. I just compared it to my just before scoping sound and its very similar. By the way the best place to listen is on top of the front drive wheel. Engine bay you just hear the injectors… can you redo cold engine wheel well.

I would get it check, I compared my recordings with your cold starts… its very very similar, like 99%.
can’t seem to attach my audio files from my ipad…I can probably mail them.

This is what I have. The 5.6 Endurance gas engine
Hmm. I'm still confused.

Unless I'm mistaken, the XD Titan is the diesel engine. All diesels are noisy. The Cummings in the school bus I drive sounds like a coffee can full of rocks for a few seconds until it gets oil pressure.

If your Titan is a gas burner, it may well have issues. If it is an XD, it is probably just a normal diesel.

Not all XD titans are diesels. They had 2 versions of XDs, one with the diesel and one with the traditional 5.6 V8. They stopped producing the diesel completely back in 2019 and only offer all models with the 5.6 V8. But he completely has an XD with the 5.6 V8 GAS engine.

I would definitely take it in. Don’t let them just tell you they don’t hear it. Demand it be scoped and reference the TSB and your vin number being in the range of numbers.

I have been complaining and making the dealer document the engine noise on service records for 2 yrs on my 2017 Titan SV 5.6L with 47,000 miles. Today I went in for an oil change with the service bulletin in hand. The service advisor came out and said your warrenty is literally up next week and you need a new short block so we are keeping your truck today and giving you a loaner. The project is expected to take atleast 2 weeks.
The key to correcting the problem is documentation. Hope this helps some of you get yours tightened up. Hopefully I will have mine back in a couple weeks knock free 🤞.

Noisy at cold start is common in these engines.

Get it good and hot - say, with a 30 minute run on the highway at speed and then pull over somewhere. Leaving the engine running, turn off the radio and the HVAC system and let the engine "settle." Then with your foot on the brake, put it into Drive and take a listen. If your engine is "right," you should not hear anything except normal whirring or clicking noises.

However, and after getting the engine thoroughly hot, if you still have a tapping / knocking noise, you may well have the scarred cylinder knock.

From there, the only way to document the scarring / noise source for sure is to take it to a knowledgeable dealership and have the #7 cylinder boroscoped. Or, if you are mechanically inclined, you might scope it yourself. Even then, a dealership will have to scope and verify it for Nissan to open a case.

Same as ours sounded. Bought a 2017 Titan gasoline 5.6L with 60k miles.
Took in after a week to have the knock looked at, it needed a new engine! Entire engine block, due to scored cylinder walls. Get it looked at! Thankfully, $15k covered 100% for us. Phew
