its like I hear it but I don’t. I just compared it to my just before scoping sound and its very similar.
Noisy at cold start is common in these engines.
Get it good and hot - say, with a 30 minute run on the highway at speed and then pull over somewhere. Leaving the engine running, turn off the radio and the HVAC system and let the engine "settle." Then with your foot on the brake, put it into Drive and take a listen. If your engine is "right," you should
not hear anything except normal whirring or clicking noises.
However, and after getting the engine thoroughly hot, if you still have a tapping / knocking noise, you may well have the scarred cylinder knock.
From there, the only way to document the scarring / noise source for sure is to take it to a
knowledgeable dealership and have the #7 cylinder boroscoped. Or, if you are mechanically inclined, you might scope it yourself. Even then, a dealership will have to scope and verify it for Nissan to open a case.
