I have used Dorman leaf spring shackles and shackle brackets on my Ranger. The hardware that came with the brackets was absolute crap. I firmly believe that my Ranger would have been unsafe if I had kept the hardware. Two of the nuts stripped right away with less than 80 ft/lbs of torque. I replaced all of them with nuts and bolts from Ace Hardware that I took up to 110 ft/lbs.
So far the brackets and shackles are doing fine and this was after loading 1,200 lbs of rock in the bed.
+1 to the PRG UCA. I have those and they work good. A little Boeshield T-9 will keep the uniball from making noise.
