I was going downhill today with my foot off the accelerator and the Titan was gaining speed - had been running about 55 and it picked up to 60. What I had been doing in this situation is click on the manual shift which drops it into 4th. Today I was lazy and just put a little brake to her and when I let off it downshifted to 4th because it was gaining speed again. I tried this a couple of more times with different hills and different speeds. It downshifted every time and sometimes to as low as 3rd. Has anyone else had this experience? I don't remember reading anything in the manual about it.

Love this truck!

Probably should have posted this in discussion instead of performance mod. because I certainly haven't modified anything.

Yes, I noticed that too. Going down hill, tapped on the brake and it shifted to 4th automatically, pretty smart trans.

About the manual, it sucks. Many things it doesn't cover: Hold the "open" button on the key fob to lower the window or it says you can deactivate the speed sensitive wiper but you can't find the section it says refer to...

Cool! The only thing I've missed from my Pathfinder is the ability to just knock it down a gear to engine brake. I've occasionally just put it in manual shift, too! Great to know it's got what Honda calls Grade Logic control! Thanks for the heads up!

Must be nice to have a hill to drive down. Living in the Chicago area the only hills I see are the man-made ones at the new subdivisions that are used for 4x4 testing.

Ain't that the truth, I could ride all the way to Ohio on my bicycle without breaking a sweat.

LE Model have Manual Shift Mode?

I have one question about the Manual Shift mode, does the LE model with the gear shift on the console have this option too? The Titan that I test drove was not an LE and I loved the manual shift mode. I forgot to ask the dealer whether the LE had this same feature or not.

Hills are fun but there are some downsides (no pun intended). Here are a couple:

(1) What you coast down you must drive up. Not the best way to achieve good gas mileage!

(2) Hills may indicate you live in a higher elevation. Elevation where I live is a little over 5000' so I lose about 61 HP (4% per 1000' above sea level on naturally aspirated engines) so that leaves only 244 HP of that glorious 305 HP I started with. Thats a bummer, but we are all equally handicapped unless you have a turbo so TITAN IS STILL THE BADDEST TRUCK AROUND!

Love this truck!
