just curious-not into all the options-those with XE's whats your reasoning. And if I upgrade to the 18 inch wheels how much do u think that is--

I love my XE. Make sure you get the CC though, that way it comes with power windows and locks. I have the popular package, and it is great. I bought some OEM Armada 18" wheels and tires at Discount Tire for $500 w/ lifetime road hazard and wheel warranty. Not a bad deal at all. Get the XE. You pay less now and that way you can customize the truck the way you want it. I am not going to deny that the SE looks great with the chrome, however it just wasnt what I wanted. Plus the price kept me away. Good luck.

I personally do not think that theres anything wrong with buying an XE.
Any Titan is better than a chev/ford/dodge/or a toy.
I would buy with in your budget, and what you think is a fair price for the truck you want. just my thoughts. :)

If you're going with what your heart says, then get the SE, otherwise get the XE if the budget dictates your payment. You already know the exterior differences:

SE:
1. Chrome grill, door handles, back bumper.
2. 18" wheels and tires
3. Side protective moldings(prevent dings)
4. some interior stuff like the floor shifter which is not that important.

XE:
1. Monochrome grill same color as the truck
2. Steel wheels 17"
3. column shifter and a few minor differences.

The major thing to consider if going with the XE:

Make sure you go with a color that brings out the beauty of your grill.
Ex. Black would not show off any of your front end since it blends into just a dark nose.

*** IMHO: Silver is the BEST color for XE *** Silver looks the most expensive, brings out the imposing grill and shows it off as metallic. It also is easy to keep clean.

Good luck,

D-Titan

I have a silver xe king cab and i love it. Personally i didn't like the chrome look. Not having power windows and locks were not a big deal since i'm not lazy and don't mind doing a little manual labor. The extra money i saved by getting an xe i used on a lift and tires and i would not have been able to afford that if i got an se.

I to have a xe cc, and I agree with the others. I dont care for the big chrome bumper on the front. Also this allows me to customize the truck as I wish. Dont get me wrong the se looks great, its all in what you want. My truck has power doors and windows, and this is definatly an option that I wanted. I allways say buy what you want, because if you dont you will never be happy.

I have the SE king cab,
but with the XE it's the same drivetrain and all, your just missing out on some of the frills, you can always customize it the way you want. Eventhough mine has the chrome grill I think that the painted ones especially on the darker colors looks great.
Any TITAN is better than any other truck out there.

I hope I don't get flamed because I know most of you guys are true enthusiast of the Titan and I guess I am too since I am now frequently on this forum, I am at a point in my life where vehicles have very low meaning in the scope of my life. That being the case when I started looking for a tow vehicle to replace my F150 about a year ago the Titan's performance compared to dollar value was very appealing. I did desire to have the SE, but I had to stay rational because my main goal is to pay off my house early. I purchased the XE without any packages and my drive out price including everything was in the very low $20's yet it has the same drive train as the upper level model. Try doing that with a domestic and you will be quickly up near the $30 with a king cab. My goal is to pay off either my house or the Titan within the next two years so I could have purchased an upper level of any brand if I wanted, but it just didn't fit my financial plans of being debt free.

Am I satisfied with the purchase? Absolutely!!!!

I have manual window cranks, but does that bother me? No, because my power window motors were burned out on my old truck so its refreshing to know that muscle power will not fail me.

I have also saved a little by having the bed sprayed by another vendor and installing a hitch myself, both of which the dealer was wanting too much.

I believe the purchase should be based on your own personal desires and many of us have different motives, but I for one am pretty happy with the purchase of the XE.

I had to go to three dealers to find an XE KC. I wanted roll-up windows, column shift, bench seats and no power locks. Fewer things to break. The dealer threw in the factory hitch, I installed an XM Roady, and I had Line X line the bed. It's exactly what I wanted.

Does anyone know whether or not you can get the side mouldings aftermarket for an XE?
I can't say for sure but I don't see why you could not.
The body shop at the dealers could certainly order them for you.

You're smoking crack. You Find a stock xe that looks as good as my TX SE, and you can talk.

Absolutely not. Besides the XE is much better looking that the other models, none of that cheap looking plastic chrome.
OUCH!!
Now that hurts.
May the sun shine on my shiney *** grill and put your eyes out. lol

XE OK by ME

I would have perferred some of the options available on the SE, but because of my requirements for both a bench seat AND side curtain airbags I had to order an XE. I will just have to make some aftermarket mods later ... no biggie. And so I wait for delivery of my XE CC.........

Do what ever works best for you. I can't wait for my Titan XE or otherwise.

I've got the XE crew cab 4x4 w/preferred package. I have never loved a vehicle so much. I compared an SE and for the price difference, I was happy to do without the extra bells and whistles. The only thing I gave up was power mirrors (big whoop!). The spray-in and utilitrac are nice to have, but I always put a topper on my truck anyway so the utilitrac was not going to be too useful for me anyway. The stock XE wheel are basic, but heck its a truck isn't it.

Happy with my KC XE,but CC better if don't need bed

I'm happy with my KC XE,but if you don't need the longer bed then the CC is a great option. The push button door unlock when you are opening the pass. door is something I miss. You have to unbuckle your seat belt and lean way over to unlock the pass door;the tendency is to try to do it with the truck still in drive, and your foot on the brake-don't-put it in park!!.
You can get a really spectacular deal on an XE KC-$19,977,the best you can do on a CC is maybe $23000+.I paid 22,700(an OK deal, not great, not bad) for my XE KC PP,Side curtain airbags, because the cheapo XE was a bit tough to find with the Side Curtain option.
Either way,you will love it.The 18" wheels are becoming more available since a lot of SE,LE owners are going to aftermarket wheels. You might find a low mileage set for $500-$700-not bad.Luck,Charlie

Side Curtain Air Bags in XE

I was under the impression that the side curtain airbags were only available with the captains seats...did Nissan change this lately??

This was one of the reasons I decided to wait...was looking at the bench SE and it wouldn't allow for the curtains.

Although selecting this option(curtains) also requires the Preferred Pkg and the Offroad Pkg.

PHOEBISIS and myomy can you confirm??

love my XE

Hi,

I bought the silver XE CC 4x4 with the Perferred package, off road package, bed liner, mats and mud flaps. the only option I don't have that I would kinda like is the power mirrors,(although I have not needed them in over 4k miles). With the perfered package you get the keyless entry and the like, with the off road package you get the 17" offroad wheels and big tires(love those until i have to replace them) and the same lower rear end gearing as in the tow package. I put my own hitch and electrical components on, and I am all set. I also didn't care for the crome grill and didn't even notice the side molding until I started reading this forum. I got the truck with everything I wanted for a great price and am getting almost 16mpg. This was the right decision for me. you have to deside what you like best and go for it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with an XE, it's still a very nicely featured truck at a fantastic price. I would have been happy with an XE if it came with the Utilitrac or the tow package. The lack of those two options meant I had to go with an SE.

Cheers,
...Colin

I have a black 4x4 KC XE and I love it. The color matched front is an option on other brands, and Nissan made this standard along with the big motor which I thought was cool. My only advice is to get a silver or white one. There is a guy named DTEK here who has a white one and it is sweet looking.
You really can't go wrong at all.

BAD MO-with XE,bench-Side Curtains available-SE,no

BadMO,I have a bench seat in my XE KC,and it has the side curtain(and Side airbags that burst out of the seat). Now in the SE you can only get the Side Curtain pk with the bucket seats. Why,who knows, since it obviously has nothing to do with fitting the side airbags to bench seat-out XE's only have the bench.
Nissan has a huge list of crap you have to get,if you want the SIDE CURTAINS in an SE-
1)BUCKET SEATS
2)PPACKAGE
3)BIG TOW
4)UTILITY BED
5)OFFROAD.
I wanted a power seat, and side curtains, and I was aiming for a SE.When I read the laundry list of crap I would get stuck with just to get those 2 options,I said "to heck with it" and gave up on the power seat, and went with the XE KC.The bench is pretty good-really not a bench at all since the 2 outboard seats are fully independent-they aren't even connected to the middle seat console(which is fixed)All you lose is the ability to raise and lower the seat..It would have cost $29500 to get a CC SE with the side curtains, but a CC XE would have been~24,800.I got the KC XE -$22680-with SC and PP.I'm happy, but I think there is maybe $200-$500 more that could be squeezed off that price if the circumstances were right.
You can get an LE with Side Curtains for just a bit-maybe $1000) more that the SE.Luck,Charlie

I went for the LE but I will admit the XE is the deal of the century. And personally I like the body colored grill of the XE as well. No matter which model you choose you can't go wrong!!

I went with an SE. But I think the XE is a great deal. A lot of the options that the SE and LE packages offer aren't even available in other brands of trucks. Compare it to other brands and you will find that an XE is a great buy.

Ditto. I bought the XE FOR its features.
I didn't want chrome anywhere.
I wanted a single-piece rear window, only avail. on XE
I wanted a dashboard that was upgradable later for an aftermarket DVD entertainment system (only available without the 6-disc option). The other dashes are all integrated with the front of the radio, and very difficult to change without some fabbing or visiting Nissan for the dash piece.

Just by chance, the OEM radio in my XE is the ONLY style of radio on a Titan that doesn't have the FM issues... guess some of us lucked out on that one.

Like others, I have added the hitch, power locks, power windows are on the way, have already ordered the Big Tow mirrors (I'm gonna have to figure out how to get the chrome off :) ) All controlled by the OEM switch panels that I bought from Nissan.

After Banks exhaust, Volant intake, OEM tow hooks and fog lamps, and 18" Titan LE wheels (from another TT member), I still paid less than I would have if I had purchased an SE, just in case price is the determining factor for you.

I too have a king cab. This is a necessity for what I haul. The CC made the bed too short, not to mention the truck is heavier in the 4-door model, right?

The one thing that I wish I had on my XE that will be difficult to add is the trans cooler and trans temp guage. (big tow features).

It was not so much about the $, as my payment is only $400 /mo. I honestly thought there was just too much chrome.
I have to say its been alot of fun doing the upgrades myself anyways.

One thing going for the SE and LE models.. resale value and resellability!!! All those accessories not found on an XE make it worth alot more and alot easier to trade/sell later.

hope all the positive comments on the XE will show.. most of us were after the amazing power plant under the hood

pciley,power windows-how??

pciley,a couple of questions
1)-How-are you going to convert to power windows?Power door locks?
2)How much was all the switchgear etc to switch to Big Tow mirrors?Mirrors$$$?How many parts (separate items,so I will know I got everything) are involved in this?
I think we have a trans cooler.Look to the right just behind the grill(as you face it)-it is about 3x12x1 and diagonally mounted. No temp gauge, but I bet you could fit one to the cooler?
Right about the motor-trans.It is the whole reason I bought the TITAN.If it had a 245 hp motor like the Tundra-a very nice, smooth, reasonably powerful motor-I wouldn't have given it a look-the motor sells this truck!!
Sorry about all the questions, but I would like power mirrors. They are one of the 2 features(power seat was nice also,I liked the height adj) I miss off my much fancier Tundra. Thanks,Charlie
