I'm looking to get the AR Mace 8 in 18x8.5, backspacing5.375, offset 15mm - wrapped in 35x12.5 BFG KM2 - on 4x4 w/ Pro Comp 6" lift. Any rubbing issues with this? If I understand correctly, compared to the stock rims, the 1/2" extra width and .125" less backspacing should require about 12-15mm offset. 4wheelparts believes I need 5" backspacing, but I think they are wrong.

I'd be very surprised if they rubbed at all, and a 5" b.s. would cause them to be more likely to rub, (at the pinch-weld).

As far as spindle rub, PRG states "All the kits can run STOCK wheels and run 35" tires (exception is the CST kit on stock wheels with 325 tires or Toyo/Nitto MT...the lugs will hit the spindle)."

The stock Off Road rims have 5.375" b.s. too, so they should be fine, (especially since your have a PC lift).

Thanks for the info NorCal. I did not know the OR wheels were 5.375 backspacing, so basically, the AR wheels would only be 1/4" farther out per side (due to wheel width delta)....shouldn't be a problem.

It's not per side, because backspacing, (b.s.), is the distance from the mounting surface to the outermost edge of the rim's inside, (in other words, if you laid the rim on the driveway, good side up, and measured from the driveway to the mounting surface). So all additional width goes to the outside, when the b.s. is the same.

Since the b.s. is 5.375" for both, and the Off Road rim, (and XE rim), is nominally 7.5" and the AR is 8.5", the AR will stick out 1" more. If comparing to the stock SE or LE rims, ('04-'07 models, don't know about any of the '08), since they have 5.5" b.s., a 8.5" with 5.375" b.s. will stick out 0.625" more, (because they are half an inch wider than the Off Road rim, and have 0.125" more b.s.).

But still shouldn't be a problem with your setup.

Doh! Gotcha, gotcha, makes perfect sense. So, the "offset" is really just a reference dimension, correct?

Yes. Offset is how far the mounting surface is from the wheel's centerline.

The centerline is the nominal wheel width, plus one inch, divided by 2, (which for an 8.5" rim is 4.75").

So if a 0mm offset, the backspacing would be 4.75", but since the offset is +15mm, (+0.59"), the backspacing is 5.34", or 5.375".

I am thinking about getting that same wheel (size and specs); however, I am just running a PRG mini-lift. If I kept my tire size reasonable should I have any issues? Are we sure this wheel with that BS and offset doesn't hit the brake caliper?

I am looking to pull the trigger and order these wheels on Friday. Is anyone running these wheels?

Thanks.

I am also looking at the mace 8 rims. if i get them i would like to some put 33x12.50R18 toyo MT's on them. i have a stock 4x4, non-OR suspension, does anyone think i will have rubbing issues? i eventually will get a prg 4" pref. lift, but want the tires first.

They might have the wheels listed in their website, but they are not available (at least not when I needed them a few weeks ago). Maybe your local 4wpw has them, though. I checked around and everyone says they are on backorder. If anyone can find them, consider yourself lucky.

Be careful. You might have to run a spacer. I did with my Thug's. The wheel rubbed the brake calipher.
