Howdy y'all,

I am pondering upgrading the headlights on my truck to LED's I am aware of the differences between LED's and HID's.

My question is, has anyone installed AUX BEAMS? Or any upgraded lighting for that matter? Does it throw an error code when installed? AUX BEAM has an error free module that they sell with their products and I am not sure that I need it?

I would appreciate any help I can receive on this issue!

Hey Fishn,
Was there a big difference in output between the stock bulbs and those LEDs?

I'm considering swapping out my high beams with those type of LEDs, but as it seems everyone that sells stuff today "stretchs" the truth a little, I'd love to hear from you about your for real experience. Are they a lot brighter? Hows the color difference?
Thanks a TON in advance

I'm running plug and play LED's in my high beams, they don't throw any codes.

90W 11000LM LED headlight Kit COB 9006 HB4 6000K XENON White Low Beam bulbs
Search Ebay.
Go with these, they are absolutely the brightest LED out there (wasted the cree) and require nothing but plug and play.
Do not get the 4 way Cob, they are not as bright. Stick with the 3 way COB.

Super easy to install, just take the first 3 screws on your fender liner out from bottom up. you can 'peel it away' enough to get your arm in there and change the bulbs! Takes 10 minutes on the ground to change :")
Leave the hi beams normal bulbs. trust me , the combo of light frequency is sick!

SmithBla000 .... where are you lookin' at the AUX Beams? Got any specs on them?

I'm wondering if maybe I want HIDs for the Highs on my truck...

I worry about messing with the lows... don't want to be irritating to those I am behind close, nor those coming from the other direction...I am happy with them currently, and want to keep Johnny Law at bay...

But... with the high beams, I just want more light, and further out, when I push that lever forward.
Don't care too much about the wait(HID..never had em, is it that long a pause?), as the lows stay lit on this truck any way.

issue with HID for highs is they take time to warm up not instant and in some cases not worth it over Led that is instant. especially if there is opposing traffic often Hids would be a pain

really couldn't tell you,it been years since I ran OEM high beams. Past couple years its been HID's in the low beams and Silverstars in the highbeams, which I rarely used. I currently am running HID's in retrofitted OEM headlights with an H1 projector , which really over powers the high beams when the shield flips up.

I just got the Aux Beam F-S2 bulbs from Amazon.

The Amazon description said "2 Pcs of 9005 single beam headlight bulbs, each with 3 pcs of high power Bridgelux COB chips" and the picture on Amazon is (attached below) showing 3.

As Jesselivengood's example had 3 COB chips, and these were supposed to... I figured, being Amazon, I could return em if no bueno.

So..I'm not yet sayin' no good yet... but.. I opened the box to find a 2 LED COB light (see below)..and i DETEST misleading advertising.

But .. I only spent 34 bucks.. so.. I cant expect too much.. I get that...but I can share my experience.

I'm gonna go take before and(put em in and then) after photos right now and check on that CAN Error
(I go into this, having looked at the wiring diagram, KNOWING, it will not toss any error, but I wanna answer the OPs question too :) )

Back in a bit...

mine were 34 bucks, the 3 way actually has a but-load of leds per side. By the look that is the same tech, just 2 sided. I would contact seller and have the correct shipped to you, it was probably an accident.

Ok.. so... No codes no Errors.

No need to take anything apart, I can get to my hi beams ez from the top

But..
Polarity backwards.. no biggie cause aside from the clip, there's nothing stopping you from flippin' the plug.
And
The bulbs fit loose.. jiggly loose. If I keep em..gonna need an xtra O-ring or something in there to seal em and to stop the jiggle.

They wind up in the hole with the LEDs to the side, like the third pic above.

So, I'm not all that impressed.

Its a lot of light, very white light.
But it seams there is a lot of glare up close, and it doesn't throw as far out.

Considering that the factory 9005 is ~1900 lumens and these are supposed to be 4000 lumens, I dunno..

These are on the garage door from about the same spot.. Lo, Hi OE, Hi LED

Again.. stickin to the OPs original question.. nope, no code or error even after extended testing.

to add.. I am thinking these will go back to Amazon.

I don't like the glare and scatter I'm getting with these, and looking at them from the front, they are harsh, a different color, likely to get me a ticket if Johnny Law is hiding off the side of the road, and if I miss dimming them, the other driver's retinas will bleed, and all for very little, if any gain.

I do think the glare is something I wont like, maybe I'm getting old... I even dim the dash lights so I can see better anymore.

I do believe I am going to just get some 9011 (HIR) bulbs.. and go from ~1900 to ~2400 regular, incandescent, properly focused beam, lumens for around 24 bucks.

I have the light bar to bring some extra, white, scattered light when im on back roads or playing in the woods at night.

BMV,

I just ordered the 9006 LB & 9005 HB they are suppose to be here on the 10th of this month! After i saw that there were no error codes thrown, i ordered the bulbs without the error free module :)

If you head over to the AUX BEAM webpage they have all the specifications!
https://www.auxbeam.com/headlight-bulbs/9006/88621848

Model 9005
Power 10W~39W
Chip Brand CREE

Model 9006
Power 10W~39W
Chip Brand CREE

They have different power bands for the headlights as well that might throw less of a blinding light towards on coming traffic.
10W~39W 24
40W~90W

My issue has been on the highways... my low beams are terrible even after replacing the bulbs and cleaning the lenses. My hopes are that LED LB will help with this issue and the HB with throw light farther and brighter!

I chose the 10W~39W model F16 for my LB & HB

HID's would be a little bit more expensive, but they have their benefits compared to LED as far as color spectrum and warmth and their ability to cast light farther. There is a little bit of a delay for the ballasts to power up and heat up the lamps, but you are only talking 15 -30 seconds...

Here is the benfits and drawbacks of HID vs LED

Durability:
HID- Low, has moving parts, bulbs and filaments.
LED- High, no moving parts or filaments. Shock proof.
Energy Efficiency:
HID-Low
LED-High

Installation Time:
HID- About 60 min
LED-About 30 min

Heat Emission:
HID- High
LED- Very Low

Lifespan:
HID- 5000 Hours
LED- 25,000 Hours

Power Draw:
HID- High
HID- Low

Available Colors:
HID- 7
LED- 4

Fast Warm-Up Time:
HID- No
LED- Yes
