Does anyone know of one?
I have searched and searched and come up empty :(
Had one on my 1986 Toyota 1ton that went up above the spare tire.
That added an additional 15 gallons to give me almost 500 miles range
when towing a 23 ft CC boat down the Baja peninsula.

This is in the idea bin for me, since I eventually plan to have a rack-mounted spare, I was thinking of having a tank custom built to fill that void (Gravity feed to main). I'm a long way out, but I did find an outfit out of FL that does custom tanks...google it and you might find it, I am coming up empty. I can tell you. however, on a stock Titan, there is very little room to slap in an aux tank and still carry the spare in the OEM location.

have you thought of a circle track fuel cell to transfer fuel to the OEM tank with a 12V pump? alot of different sizes to accomodate that spot without the tire.

After dealing with the nightmare of the (wife's 2001, 2500) dual-pump Suburban, HELL NO!. K.I.S.S. is main for this brainstorm. Maximum capacity, with minimal re-plumbing. and no extra wiring is key and priority. Infantile stages on this idea, but after dropping my tank 4 times attempting to get a BS pair of replacement pumps to work, a gravity-feed is EASILY possible. Plumb fuel filler hose to new tank, with outlet the same to OEM tank, new tank just has to be less than 11" deep if mounted 'flush' with the bed in the OEM spare tire slot... EPA **** stays the same, Vent remains the same...(MIGHT make new tank needed to be mounted 2" off cossmebers, or same " shallow for 8" total". But then, I plan to always have the rear an inch at least higher than the front. There's a few variables, but not a lot, and it's easily feasible.. To the best of my knowledge, NO ONE offers a higer capacity OEM first gen titan fuel tank right now.

Keep in mind that in *most* states, auxiliary tanks that are gravity fed are illegal. The backup tank, assuming you can find one, will need to be DOT certified. Most tank manufacturers won't touch them with a 10 foot pole and, if they do, it likely means that they either don't care or are a shadetree welder (in either case, I would question the quality). This is why the transferflow tanks are so expensive; they're DOT certified and legal to hold gasoline during travel.

Here's a quote directly from the Transferflow website:

Caution

Gravity feed fuel systems may be easier to build and cheaper to buy, but does that mean it’s the smart choice? Due to safety, environmental, and legal concerns, Transfer Flow engineers will not endorse, promote, design, install, or sell gravity feed fuel systems. On gravity feed systems, if the valves, connectors, or fuel lines have any malfunctions there is nothing to stop fuel from overfilling the OEM tank and leaking all over the road.

DOT and EPA would have you by the short-and-curlies if your tank causes a fuel spill.

Awesome! you the guy that can answer my question. Did the filler neck fit the 1in suggested splice fitting?

dlowry
The splice fitting they gave did fit the filler neck on the gas tank in the truck. The only thing you have to do different is plug the hole in the center of the tank and run the 2 lines one is for fuel going into tank the other is fuel return if you vent the tank from the center hole it will throw up a code on your truck.

Thank you for the info, I'm guessing you had to cut the flexible section of the filler neck? Have you had any issues with legal? What state are you in?

Thanks

the fuel neck had to be cut and no issues with legal I'm in tx. My tonneau cover hides the tank even my local Nissan dealership doesn't have a problem with it.
