Axle seals leak after truetrac installed

Had my TT installed last week by a 4x4 shop in town and 2 days later the axle seals leak (both sides). So I called the dealer and told the service manager I need to bring the truck in for axle seal replacement. He ask me which side and I said both sides are leaking, I asked him to check the parts dept. to make sure they have the wheel bearings and seals in stock before I went in cause I lived 1/2 hr. away and didn't want to go twice. 1 hr. later he called and said that he talked to a service tech and the parts dept. and they said that if both sides leak I will have to get both axles replace (Nissan's reconmendation). I miss understood the guy and said no no no I don't want the whole rear end replace, I just installed detroit truetrac in there not too long ago,(I didn't want to say when). The guy said oh no we're not replacing the entire rear end just the axles with the seals and bearings already pressed on. I said oh in that case order it in. Went to have it installed today at the dealer. It only took them 1 hr. to change them out. I can't believe it they didn't give me any sh!t about the truetrac especially after I told the service manager it was in there. What a great service department.

First time I recall hearing of an axle install, vs entire assembly. Congrats the upgrades! :)
I also had an axle seal leak on the drivers side and the dealer had to replace the whole rear end assembly. This is my second replacement. No trutrac though!
Whole rearend? Axle???? I dont think they did anything like that to mine to fix the axle seals. Why would they replace the whole rear end??? Or did i miss something?

yea I don't understand it either. why replace the WHOLE rear end assemby when they can just simply replace the seals or the axle. would that not be cheaper for nissan???
Maybe they know something that they're not sharing?
Well truthfully I dont know what the fix included in mine......but I am quite sure it was just the seals. My dealer wouldnt mind the TT either i dont think. They know me pretty well...........when i come to get my truck the last couple of times it has been parked in the bay. They said it's a good conversation piece for customers. WTF?
I have an 04 XE 4x4 and they are replacing the whole rear-end just for the passenger side leaking. Nothing like getting a new rear-end!
It's easier for them to just drop in a whole new assembly than to fudge around with work you have to actually be qualified to do. I've seen Nissan techs screw up an oil change.
They didn't bother you about the TT because it has nothing to do with the seals or breather tube. They are also aware that this is a common problem.
The Dealer said the rear diff was low on fluids as well as the driver side axle seal leak. This caused my gears to be fried according to the tech who was working on my truck. Im not going to argue with them I get a new rear assembly on their dime because of the warranty. he said it was a miracle it was still holding up.
got my diff oil changed, 2 weeks later, got my axel seals changed, they started leaking horribly, new diff oil again, week later got my trutrac installed, new oil again, talk about almost overkill on changing my diff oil 3 times in 3 weeks lol

That way they have a nice truck for potential customers too play with and climb allover. LOL
