When I test drove a pro4x with all pkgs you could hit the camera button while in drive and the Nav/radio screen would switch to the front camera first, then to the rear....even while in Drive or Neutral

In my now owned Pro4x the camera button in Neutral or Drive or anything does nothing but give me a setup selection. It never actually turns on. I have to be in Reverse for it to come on. Is that right? Otherwise, what is the point of the button if I cannot activate it? Unless it's there for ease of assembly and they remove its function?

I have a related question... my 2017 SV Crew Cab didn't come with a backup camera. But I noticed the 2017 Altima had an identical radio unit as my Titan (the low-end radio unit) and that the Altima did have a backup camera and was able to display the video on the radio unit. So I suspect my Titan's unit could do the same if i were to plug-in a backup camera to it. Has anyone been able to figure out the pin-out on the back of the low-end radio unit and been able to add a backup camera themselves?

The vehicle is in storage mode when it is at the dealership and changed to transit mode during PDI. Perhaps the camera feature works differently in storage mode?
That is the only factor that I can think of that could cause such a change in functionality.

Sounds like the Pro4x you test drove had the luxury package (heated & cooled front seats, outside mirrors have the reverse tilt down feature, and the around view monitor with moving object detection), and the Pro4x you bought does not have the luxury package. If it had the luxury package, you could hit that button and see all around the unit with the around view monitor.

That makes sense. I assumed you purchased the vehicle you test drove.
You can also toggle the parking assist lines in the backup camera image when pressing the camera button while in reverse.
If you don't see a camera lens in the Nissan badge in the front grill, you don't have the 360 degree camera option in your vehicle.

I'm looking for this info as well.

If you end up finding a solution please let me know.

I have the Pro 4X with all packages and I'm able to use the 360 degree camera in drive and reverse (not sure about park and neutral)...I think there's a speed limit over which the camera will not come on (over 5 mph?). The camera is great!

I also bought a 17 Titan SV without the backup camera, I found a stereo shop that installed a camera in the same place as the factory version but with a better camera integrated in the factory head unit. It was not cheap but I really wanted the camera.
Looking at the box of the camera and wiring harness they installed, here is the information:
Automotive Integration Solutions 844-283-6372 The part number on the box shows NIS5CAM1 which is the camera and harness.
The guy at the shop told me they can integrate any nissan factory head unit.

Update: I contacted AIS using the information above and they referred me to a local dealer/installer in Jacksonville, FL. They have a camera on order for me and one day next week I'll have it installed. It's going to cost $330.10 altogether.

Thanks for the information! I also have a '17 Titan SV without the backup camera. Were they able to tie it into your existing head unit? Any pics you can share?

I can't speak for cnsmike but when I was on the phone with my local shop they asked me to verify that I had the factory unit with 5" screen. I can also tell you that when you go into the service menu of the radio there is an option in there for a camera. You can get into that menu by turning the radio off, press and hold the pre-set 1 button while turning the volume knob counterclockwise several turns.

Did you have to order a new tailgate trim piece from Nissan ?

(one with a cutout for camera) .. or will the shop just dremel the existing trim?

At any rate, I'm thinking about this and adding recording cameras front and back for insurance reasons if ever in an accident. Blackvue dash cameras (DR650S-1CH 128GB models) are supposed to be nice/effective.

I did not order a new trim piece from Nissan. I honestly thought it was included in the kit but I could be wrong.

I did the SV non Nav camera install myself, it is the same radio they used in many cars so it was just a matter of making you want to spend another 4K to get a package of stuff. I posted about it on the forum if you want to search my posts. All you need to have to make it an easy install is a camera like the one I bought at best buy and get the harness extension to make it plug and play behind the radio. Only splice was on the trailer connections for the reverse lamp. Under $100 with some wire loom and tie wraps. Hardest part is just understanding how to take the dash apart.

I used a license plate frame attached camera and it works great for hooking up the trailer and backing out of a tight parking lot.

New driver here,

Just got my ‘18 titan pro4x. Love the truck. Couldnt be happier. It’s also my first truck ever. I have a similar question...

Mine doesn't have the premium package. I test drove one with that and I loved the 360 camera. Thought i was getting that option in the one i bought but it wasnt in there. It’s on me not comparing the window stickers. Lessons learned. Anyway, i have the reverse mirrors which is part of the premium package but not the other two. Also my nav unit has the camera button which makes me think that i could eventually possibly add those cameras myself at a later time. Does anyone have experience with something like that or does anyone know if the wiring would be present to just plug the cameras in? I checked the part catalog and the camera control head part numbers are the same.

Thanks for the input
