I think a lot of people on here seem to like the kenwood products.
I have my heart set on the Poineer AVIC Z2. Has a built in hard drive.
I have the Kenwood DNX7100 and I love it. It has the option to add a couple of extra thing too like the bluetooth and rear camera. There are a couple of members here with this unit and they all like it.

The z2 is huge disappointment . takes forever just to play music. And the preamp is awful.

The kenwood 7100 is bulletproof and in your budget. best i have used.
The kenwood seems like it would be alot better for me, since it plays divx movies, also does it have turn by turn speech for the gps side? I found one of those for $979 is that pretty cheap?
Everything i have seen with the avic d3 it looks to be a nice unit.

Yes it tells you turn by turn side. I can tell you this much, when Tech installed mine he was amazed on how fast the GPS loaded up. I think it was the first of 7100 that he installed.
My 7100 is being installed as I'm typing this. It should be done in another hour or so and I'll pick it up on my lunch break. For $1,800 OTD they are installing the 7100, XM and iPod video controls. I'll post again once I get to play with it.
I had the Pioneer D3 in my Z and love it so much it's going into the Titan. The only thing I don't care for with it is the one slot CD/DVD.

You can find them online for around $800.

can u add a harddrive to the kenwood
With the Kenwood you can add an iPod controller or you can burn MP3's onto a DVD which holds the equivalent of 70 full CD's, roughly 1200 songs. MP3's on DVD works slick and the Kenwood is fast.
With the 7100 if you don't have the Ipod hooked up you can hook up a data stick and get songs off of it too, thats what I have right now. I have a 1 gig data stick and it has a lot of music.
I have the Pioneer AVIC-D3 with everything you can add for this unit. (around $640 online)
Bluetooth and Mic for cell phone
XM- Satellite Radio w/ Real time XM-NAV traffic
Rearview camera
iPod control adapter
USB connector (for thumb drives and hard drives)
Female RCA plugs for game console and power converter.

It's true that you can only have one DVD in at a time, but it's a minor inconvenience that I never really experience, since all my music and videos I can run it off my iPod or hard drive. As far as quality of the unit, it sounds better than the old Alpine I used to have in my Z.

And yes Kenwood is a nice unit, but it also costs double. If you need to have top of the line everything, Pioneer is not for you. But if practicality, value, and quality is what you're looking for it's a known fact that AVIC-D3 is the best bang for your buck.

Where in Florida are you?

I got the AVIC D3 and I love it 100% like the others said, the downside is one DVD Slot, and you need the nav DVD in if you want the best mapping.

However, I simply went and got a Zune, plugged it in and I use it all the time, my nav mutes it when it gives me directions and I must say the mapping is great, i go into BFE and it works great. awesome touch screen and like other mentioned, you can add a ton of options, cams so on so forth. I also have it hooked up to my system, and well it runs it great, good controls. I got mine from Best buy online for 900, could of gotten it cheaper but wanted less hassle if i ever had to return it.
Im in brandon, Im thinking im gonna go with the kenwood dnx7100 i can get alot of divx movies plus putting my music on a dvd is a great feature also.
