So looking at the air intakes, the S&B and Airaid (new model) look good, but then I am thinking, what about all the dust?

The fact is it gets on and in everything. To make it worse I haul horses around, so I am spending a good amount of time driving onto dirt. The dirt here is more like fine dust. Fine red dust, from sand stone erosion.

Think Mars.

What's the solution for the desert? What do you do on your 4x4s out here?

The stock unit is cracked on the bottom of the filter holder, and it wobbles around. I just figured if there's a better solution for the arizona desert I would try it.

So, is this a case of leave well enough alone? I can find an OEM replacement of just that part, I am sure.
I'd just take some epoxy & fix it. Cheap fix

I had totally forgotten about the ancient but trusted two-tube dries like freaking nails expoxy!

Thank you, that's a $10 solution to it all.

And then maybe I'll look into better filters for the stock unit to deal with the dust. Any recommendations there are appreciated.

I've got a big box that says Airaid with a picture of the intake on my den's floor - I'll send it back. Luckily I have amazon prime, so that's going to be easy.
