I'm looking at purchasing a new Titan in the near future. I'm just curious what are some good test driving techniques that people use and what should I be looking or listening for when applying those techniques during a test drive?

Also can some present Titan owners elaborate on the quality and build of their Titan? Any information provide is greatly appreciated.

Will you be test driving a new or a used vehicle? If it's new, all that matters is the character of the vehicle meets your personal taste, if it's used your also looking for "problems".

Drive it like you stole it!!!:teethmast . j/k, I test drive every vehicle like I would normally drive. I do give it the gas at least once up a highway entrance, why buy it if it can't get out of its own way?? Good luck.. Oh and go shopping on a cold snowy, or raining day. You'll get a better deal.

A good road test involves hard braking, acceleration, and hit a few good bumps. If nothing is noticed through those three tests, you have a good one. You can do all that in about 10 minutes and a couple miles.

Try test drive it on roads that you have traveled many times
in other vehicles. It gives you a better standard of comparison.
I learned that lesson when I bought a 1984 Corvette with
the optional Z51 suspension. It seemed to ride not too
bad where I test drove it, but when I got it on the roads
that I usually travel it was so rough I couldn't stand it.

Most dealers will let you take the vehicle home for the night. Do that and drive your normal route to work. Just drive like you would everyday and try to put the vehicle through its paces.

Take it for a good ride not just around the block. Don't let the sales person turn on the radio as it is a distraction. Ask same person to not talk through the whole ride as his diarrhea of the mouth is a distraction too. Make sure the seats are comfortable and can be adjusted to your likeing because once you own it your married to it for a long while.
I owned three Nissan Quests. The first two were GXE models and were great so when I bought an SE I figured why bother with the test drive, BIG MISTAKE. The van had sport seats which hurt me on long drives ands sport suspension which rattled your teeth on rough roads. We kept it for four years and it only had 20,000 miles on it because I refused to drive it. My wife used it to go to work and run errands with the kids. My Titan became the family cruiser and we racked up miles WAY faster than I'd like to the point I'd like to replace it to start over. Now when I bought her a new Pathfinder I took it for a substantial ride just to satisfy my comfort. It was a tough lesson to learn.

Never let the salesman come with you on a test drive.

Beat the f*ck out of the vehicle you test (new vehicles).

Focus on the important things first. Don't get distracted by the dash or sound system that is new and different from your current vehicle. Give it gas, brake it hard, hit rough roads, get some severe turning in. Check for performance, vehicle noise & comfort. Those three things will ultimately be the make or break in your term of ownership.
