Just wanted to post a quick update on my tire experience. I'd heard from folks these original KOs were terrible in wet weather, but I'd had some experience with them previously and my brother swears by his. So since they were the best deal going when I needed new tires, I bought them.
Well, anybody who's been following the weather lately knows my part of the world - northern Alabama - spent the Christmas to New Years part of last year getting drenched with flooding rains. We had road closures, water in houses, the whole nine yards. I drove my truck extensively during that time, and while I'm smart enough not to try to cross the deeply flooded roads, I did hit a number of "standing water" areas where I could see the yellow lines through the water, but it was easily ankle deep. I also drove in pouring, blowing rain, all over our area, up and down 500-1000ft climbs and descents through our part of the tail of the Appalachians. I had tire slippage once over the week, and that was when I needed to get out into traffic quickly. slip light on, grab of the brakes, let off the gas a tad, everything settled right down and off we went. I can't complain about the wet traction of these KOs at this point. Granted, I'm not halfway into the tread life, but so far, they're great as expected.
Of course, it may be moot as I believe they've been replaced across the board by the newer KO2s, but I wanted to post my experience never the less.
