Instead of objects in the right side mirror being closer than they appear, the opposite is the case with my right side big tow mirror. Objects are further away than they appear.

Am I the only one who finds this odd, especially when driving more than one vehicle regularly? It's hard to get used to cars looking like they are on top of me when in reality they are considerably further back.

I think it is done that way so you can see a bigger area beside and behind the truck. The mirror seems to give a better view than any one I have used on other trucks. It does take some getting used to though.

I have to look twice when passing other vehicles just to be sure I know it is safe to pull back in. Definately hard to get used to.

The top portion of the right side actually provides a real view unlike the traditional "objects may be closer than they appear". That's why they come with the convex mirrors on the bottom...so you get a real view and a wide angle view. I love having the mirrors the way they are so you can accurately judge the distance of objects on the right and left sides.

Yes, the right side mirror magnifies the rearward view. It is not a 1:1 mirror like the left side mirror. I've never seen a vehicle mirror that magnifies.

If I look at the same object from both sides, the view from the upper right and left sides look the same to me. I think you need to stay away from the hard liquor...:)

If you don't see an apparent magnification, your right side mirror is not the same as mine.

Anyone else with the tow mirrors notice the magnification?

I have the tow mirrors and noticed it as well. I've only had mine for a week, (240 miles) but it hasn't been a bother so far.
